Colecovision Auction Watch

Recommended Posts

That listing has ended. Weird.

Looks like bonty100 pulled it after being informed it was a fake, judging from this auction calling out the original seller as a fraud:

The posting will quickly be yanked by eBay for multiple abuses of their terms, surely. PDF attached for posterity.

Not sure what the point of this is, I can't even tell what or who he is saying is fake. Is it just the description and we are supposed to guess that ?

The point was explanation of why the original was pulled, as TPR noted. If you go back upthread, this is the item that was pulled that the (re)seller is carping about:

Ah ok, we all knew immediately it was a rom dropped cart with a created label.

I know it is mean but you really do deserve to get screwed if you are going to buy something that expensive and not do any research at all.

It would not be hard to do simple search and discover it was a released colecovision game and what the cart looked like. Then you can even look on ebay and notice your $800 cart is going for $20 bucks as the authentic labeled game.

As for whoever originally sold it to him if his story is true then that is not cool to knowingly screw someone over. It is one thing to sell things for a high price it is another thing to sell something you know is worthless for a high price.

I've never seen this particular reproduction before, but it looks astonishingly like my limited 4-copy run that I sold to Michael of Good Deal Games at CGE 2014. However, the text in the fonts is incorrect, and mine were sold complete-in-box. I'm wondering if someone picked one up from him, and then reproduced the label, as I don't recall anyone doing the SOCCER block-style lettering like I did.

Exactly why I asked about the Ghost & Zombies that went up this week! :P

I'm surprised that eBay allows someone to do this.

I'm NOT surprised that the guy got shafted once I found out who the seller really was.

Ah don't be so hard on relik, his "life circumstances" are forcing him to sell his prize coleco item for $7000. He is even having to sell his used porn on ebay....just terrible!

But his kids need their christmas presents again this year!! Poor guy :rolling:

ColecoVision with an F18a installed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Colecovision-Game-Console-with-VGA-Video-Output-Composite-Audio-Blue-PWR-LED-/172141291439

Seems a little expensive to me, but that's a pretty nice upgrade if you don't have one installed in your system already.

Yeah you're right. I'd offer free shipping on that. As for the price tag, I'd say that's not too far off. The F18a is close to $80. A stock ColecoVision, $50 in good shape. Minimum 4 hours tech work to remove the VDP and install the F18a, about $50 per hour (modest). This is "retail" price of course. I think most AA members would knock the price down by about 25% if sold in Marketplace.
