Is there a Color Adjustment Cartridge?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've got a 4 switch 2600 that I've got to adjust the color on, I know how to do it, I was just wondering if there was a rom out there to help me do this? I have the Test Cart rom and that was great for helping me setup my arcade machine, but I was wondering if there was one that just stayed on the color screen so I could take my time to adjust it.

Thanks

That's it. On the first screen that says,"Test Pattern" you are suppose to get the top color of the border to match the bottom color as close as possible. Use the color bar and gray scale pattern to adjust your TV. The directions can be found here.

Thanks for the instructions, I did all that and oddly enough it turned out to be the cable that was screwing up all the video, the color was off and I had some noise on the screen. I didn't actually think it could have been the cable but it looks like that was indeed the culprit.

Thats for the link to the instructions. Thats going to be a usefully thing to have when restoring and fixing other 2600 I come across. :D

I used the official diagnostic test cart. This website lacks instructions for its use (found in the atari field service guide... perhaps I should submit web istructons... or maybe atariage should post the guide... they might not be doing so because Best electonics sells them.) Its pretty easy to use, set the switches to "color", Left diff A, Right dif A and amongst the color bars you will see a single grey bar torwards the bottom. the goal is to adjust the color POT untill the color bars directly above and below this grey bar match. Your atari should be properly calibrated.
