Interest Check: Vintage Videogame Magazines and patches

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to gauge the interest level of some classic gaming magazines. Not sure if I should sell them separately or as a group. Would anyone have interest in any of the following or what a good price might be? Thoughts on the best way to sell them? (sorry for the poor images - using my phone):

Videogaming Illustrated , April 1983

Electronic Games, May 1983

I'd be interested in some, as well as maybe the patches. Honestly, no clue what they go for normally. I think the patches would probably be fair around $5 each, but that's really just a guess. I know some can be quite rare. The magazines, well, not sure either, probably not too collectible, but I'd love to read some of them. Maybe, considering condition, somewhere around $2-5 each depending on what they contain would be fair?

The Chopper Commandos patch is about $5, and the 5200/CV version of the Explorers Club would be about $10. (Based on my experience collecting Activision patches.) That issue of Sonic is actually designated as "-1" because it was a promo ashcan issue put out by Archie MLJ Comics in advance of the regular series, which started with issue 0 and went to issue 3. Those are worth something, but this ashcan issue is worth only $3 in NM condition (and so less based on the picture here). I'm interested in some of the magazines.

I am interested in the following:

VG Illustrated

VG Player

Electronic Fun

Send me a PM if you're ready to sell

You video game magazines (based on Ebay past sales) can fetch $10-$20+ each based on condition. The Videogaming Illustrated one with Coleco vs Atari is probably the most valuable.

Thanks to all that PMed with interest. I think I'll end up trying my luck on ebay first. I have a bunch of stuff that I need to start unloading (handhelds, Atari 5200 collection, Intellivision collection, and a ton more) and it might be easier and more profitable to just go through ebay. Then again, I haven't sold on ebay in a couple years. Not sure what sort of a mess it is now. Anyway, if ebay is too frustrating, I'll come back here. Thanks again to all that messaged me with requests and info.

Post the auctions here for those of us that were interested. There's an auction section of the Marketplace.

And another reminder of why I've got to stop giving free advice to people.

Reminds me of a line from a movie

Ah, Creepshow 2. I find this line echoing through my head at the strangest moments.

I'll be sure to post auctions here. Again, it's been a while since I've ebayed. Not sure how much patience I have for their dictatorial style.

Hey, I gotta make a few bucks after circumventing ebay and selling low on Good Luck Charlie Brown! ;)

Me too. I can't think of the town of Dover the same way ever since I saw that movie, what, 25 years ago??
