Vitiman Z #1 Posted September 10, 2011 I'm asking this because I'll probably scout out some money and buy a Super Famicom, mostly to play my imports. Problem is, I've already "modded" my SNES to play them just fine, but practically the entire internet hates the American design's guts solely on the grounds that it's bulky. Or maybe because it's ugly to them. Nonetheless, what do you guys have to say? For those who are curious (and would like to answer the poll if they've never seen them), here is the American original and here is the Japanese and European design. Also, to keep things interesting, here is the redesigned version only released in America and Japan (to my knowledge, anyways).

I stopped caring what the internets thought years ago when I realized that as long as I was happy with what I had then that is all that matters. Besides you could take the money you would have spent on another system and get more cool games!
OldSchoolRetroGamer #3 Posted September 10, 2011 Then all that matters is what YOU think. If the look is that important to you and you prefer a certain version there is your answer, who cares what anyone else thinks?
Vitiman Z #4 Posted September 10, 2011 Eh, I've already decided on what to do (just buy a European SNES controller because those colors are sexy), but it's still interesting to see other's opinions, even if to see how much they differ from yours, am I right? PsychoKittyNet #5 Posted September 10, 2011 I prefer the the NA model because of it's bulk. I have a soft spot for bulky electronics with hard edges. Think it's why I love the look of the NES and 2600.
Rex Dart #6 Posted September 15, 2011 Saw the Euro system in Germany back in 1991(2?) or so and thought it looked super cool. Then the thing launched in the US and I was a little confused by that chunky grey/purple brick. Oh well. Nothin' wrong with the US design, but I far prefer the original style. chrisbid #7 Posted September 16, 2011 super famicoms are very inexpensive, so if you have the room for one in your collection, then why not? i also prefer the multi-colored buttons on the super fami controller over the pink/purple buttons on the snes
