SlowCoder #1 Posted September 13, 2011 I recently got Mario Party 3 for Nintendo 64. It's my first one. Over the last few weeks, it's gotten a lot of play between the kids and I. It's a really cool game! I'm thinking about picking up Mario Party 1 and 2 also, and maybe jumping over to the GC and Wii versions also. Who else here has played, and what was your experience? Chuck D. Head #2 Posted September 13, 2011 They still get a lot of play in my house. It is usually the first multiplayer suggestion that comes up, other than Gauntlet Legends or Dark Legacy. We have 1,2,5 & 8 and probably will pick up the rest whenever we find them cheap. There are a lot of games that are slight rehashes between the versions, but very fun overall. bomberpunk #3 Posted September 13, 2011 MP4 for the 'cube is my absolute favorite. i'm a beast at the Domination mini-game (press the crap out of A for 10 seconds) and most of the other ones. MP5 is fun too. MP6 is okay. i never played the first three.
DemonoidTentacle #4 Posted September 14, 2011 These games were surely designed to break N64 analogue sticks. But I still play the games, just means I gotta repair my controllers every now and again.
RJ #5 Posted September 16, 2011 The Wii version is the ONLY GAME my wife will play.
+asponge #6 Posted September 16, 2011 I have 6, 7 (GC) and 8 (Wii). Versions 6 and 8 are really great. 7 can be frustrating (especially for younger players) at times because random game events usually determine the outcome of the game rather than the player's skill. Having said that, if you like the Mario Party games you should also check out Wii Party. It has a board game mode that is similar to the Mario Party format with mini games and whatnot. It also includes several other multiplayer game modes that are a lot of fun and break from the basic board game format.
SlowCoder #7 Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) I almost killed my N64 last night. Kids in bed I thought I'd give Story Mode a try. Won the first level (Wit), then had to battle Warily in a whole new game for the medal. 3 attempts to beat him, and I'm sure the game cheats. While I was readily able to beat him in the mini games, when it came to the "luck" rounds, he invariably won, and I invariably lost. Rubberbanding on steroids, and in favor of the Com. Anyone else experience this? Edited September 16, 2011 by SlowCoder
