CV Mr. Do! - Diamond Algorithm?

Does anyone know the right way to bring up the Diamond for the ColecoVision version of Mr. Do! which awards you with 10,000 points and a quick move to the next screen?

 

As in, what would the proper algorithm be to get the Diamond to appear on the CV version?

I was always just happy to see it appear but I am sure one of the programmers could look through the code and find the routine that made the diamond appear. It has been so long since I have actually seen the diamond appear that I forgot about it.
