Was that a tool assisted jump? If not, how did you manage it?

I was playing at home and I was like bam and I nailed it, so I hit pause and took a shot of my TV screen, I had done it before but this time I wised up and took a pic because I kinda knew that no one would believe me without a pic

The jump was in a triple jump style one at the base, one in the middle and the final leap was at the top

It happens sometimes. In fact, I think it's somewhat common on one or two levels. I know it's happened to me a number of times in what I think was the same place each time. I never thought it was a miracle. Just a regular occurrence in the game.

I've known about it for a long time. Nothing new here really. I think it actually is dependent upon the time you touch the pole rather than the height at which you reach it.

As far as reaching the top of the flag goes, that's usually just timing your jumps correctly at the staircase as Mario. As Luigi it is even easier to reach that height and often jump over the pole.

Super Mario Bros. doesn't have any flagpole 1-ups as SMB2j does. It's another thing that separates 2j from being exactly like 1.

If you have a multiple of 11 (11,22,33,etc) in coins, and the ones digit in the timer ends in the same digit as your coins, you get a 1-Up from touching the flagpole.

This is correct. He has 11 coins so he must have touched the flagpole when the last digit was a 1. I had forgotten the exact rule. Thanks for reminding me.
