sydric #1 Posted October 18, 2011 Hey folks. We received the MOST incredible donation at The Personal Computer Museum last night I could ever describe. Box after box of MINT condition Atari 8-bit software - by far the largest of its type for donations we have ever encountered. I can't even begin to describe it all, there were Atari manufactured titles I had never seen and 3 of the Chalkboard PowerPad's -- in the BOXES (plus several of the titles to go with it, all complete!). One game that caught my eye though was Embargo: So my question is - how rare is this item? It's one of hundreds of titles - many of which I had never seen before in the flesh (another example: Infocom's Fooblitzky complete in the box). Any feedback is appreciated! +orpheuswaking #2 Posted October 18, 2011 I've never seen an Embargo (I do have a boxed Fooblitzky though )
Atari8bitCarts #3 Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) Quite common, though I think Atarimania has it as a rarity 8? Most of us collectors have one, or two. And boxed version was just sold on ebay for something like $80. You would see at least 2-4 a year on eBay loose. Your chaulkboard stuff is very rare. I'd love to get a list of what you just got. We could help with the value of those things. As a collector myself, finds like these are awsome. Do you guys sell duplicates to maximize your donations? AtariGeezer #5 Posted October 18, 2011 I just picked up a loose Embargo Cart a week ago on ebay for $40 eBay Auction -- Item Number: 220871154974
Tempest #6 Posted October 18, 2011 Hard to find, but not as rare as you'd think. Loose copies go for $35-$40. A boxed copy would go for much more. Tempest

jacobus #8 Posted October 18, 2011 I'll be heading out to the museum this Saturday and I'll try to make a complete list (as well as lots of pictures)
R4ngerM4n #9 Posted October 19, 2011 Will the spare stuff be posted on ebay or somewhere else?
oky2000 #10 Posted October 19, 2011 This makes me very happy seeing that people still donate to museums like this, most people go straight to ebay and think $$$$. Great stuff
sydric #11 Posted October 19, 2011 Thanks for the information guys. After we have gone through all of the doubles, the museum will definitely sell any spares to raise funds to pay for our storage, electricity, and insurance costs. I am completely open to selling directly to people through AtariAge rather than going the eBay route as long as it is fair. We are completely and totally about building and helping the community that supports these machines, so I'd much rather see the items go to people who will cherish them rather than to just the highest bidder if you know what I mean. That way, we all win! I will keep you posted.

sydric #15 Posted October 27, 2011 Maybe a bit too early but... anything new? I'm still going through everything....SO many of the titles we didn't even have. We DEFINITELY have extra PowerPads and the software to go with them. I *thought* I was going to have some extra Avalon Hill games but it turns out we need all of them. I am still in shock at everything. The other doubles so far aren't too exciting - Soccer (Thorn EMI), Jumbo Jet Pilot, Demon Attack, Spider Invasion and a boxed "BASIC"...there is an extra AtariLab Light Module package but my volunteers may fight over that one. There's also the "box and manual" for the AtariLab Starter Kit (Temperature) but no guts as of yet (could be elsewhere). Working away as fast I can! Atari8bitCarts #16 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) As long as "fair" means, the first person who started this discussion (asked the dup's question) gets the best stuff, i.e. me fyi, I only collect and am working on a very large pitfall jones project. I would be very interested in any of the powerpad cartridges (ie 'Leo, Micro, etc). Not so much the pad. Edited October 27, 2011 by chrislynn5
qix_maniac #17 Posted October 28, 2011 sydric, can we see some pics? I'd like to trade or buy once you've sorted it out
sydric #18 Posted October 31, 2011 Still finding neat things - I assume that Inhome software "cassette" software is about as rare as the carts they produced? We have Guardians of the Gorn and Alien Swarm (see the links for what we received). There is also Pinhead which I have never seen before (complete in box)
Atari8bitCarts #19 Posted October 31, 2011 Guardians of Gorn is listed as a rarity of 8 on cassette, disk is higher. According to Atarimania, you might want to use that website to possibly benchmark the rarity. Do you have pics of Pinhead? That one doesn't come up as Atari computer??? Did you find any cartridges in the donation? Thanx.
qix_maniac #20 Posted October 31, 2011 I'd love to see pinhead picture!
sydric #21 Posted November 1, 2011 OK here is Pinhead. Cartridges? Oh yeah...there is Embargo of course, Popeye (boxed), Deluxe Invaders, and a bunch of Atari carts too! There is UMI's Soccer and Jumbo Jet Pilot. And ... I'm sure there is more!
sydric #22 Posted November 1, 2011 Oh and this one appears really rare as it is not even on Atarimania (thanks for the tip chrislynn5). Movie Themes requires the Music Composer cartridge.

sydric #25 Posted November 2, 2011 And this one, Bugrunner - appears to be the rarest one yet! Check out the great artwork on this one's cover!
