VectorGamer #2 Posted October 19, 2011 I'm a member. And I won't answer the second question because the thread will get locked!
bigbee99 #3 Posted October 20, 2011 Oh the things I could say... But yes to the 1st question. I've been a member for some time and I've been interviewed as a player twice for my game play on a popular game (not DK ). I've never met anyone from there, player or ref, in person but I have chatted with several and talked to a few over the phone. I will say there is no ref for anything pre '85 right now, outside of the Arcade scene, and it's been that way for 8 months. I think there is no excuse for this, but then again, I'm not behind the curtain. TGI will bounce back...one day. B
patbb #4 Posted October 21, 2011 I personally think that Aurcade will "take the place" of TwinGalaxies for the classic gaming. http://www.aurcade.com/ They have done a great job managing the scores for the FunSpot tourney for the last 2 or 3 years. They are also involve in other tournaments, especially in the North East.

Right on and you can submit MAME scores to MARP and classic console scores to my site
Mxyzptlk #6 Posted October 21, 2011 I'm a member. And I won't answer the second question because the thread will get locked! Can you P.M. me? I really don't get what the problems over there are. I read some about Mrozek???? I think, doctoring scores for his friends?? Most of what I found out came from a few different chat rooms. So I have no idea what happened to the site in the last few years.
VectorGamer #7 Posted October 22, 2011 What's left a bad taste in my mouth with TG is shipping a VHS tape with 6 hours worth of scores that never got verified. Then, just a few weeks ago, I broke their record on Star Castle Vectrex (by a ton, I might add - their top score is 47K and my score is 300K) and I have a live stream to prove it but they won't recognize it. No problem. They don't have any classic console gaming refs anyway. Come over to my forums, I'll verify them.
Atari_Bill #8 Posted October 22, 2011 They've lost any credibility in my book and I refuse to recognize anything they list as accurate.
eggomania #9 Posted October 23, 2011 I don't know a lot about Twin Galaxies but I always believed they were under staffed and neglected verifying scores. I used to keep in touch with a guy from Canada who was great at Black Dragon, Ghosts & Goblins, Bubble Bobble and Wonderboy. I think he broke the record on at least one of those games and he sent in the video of his playing. His scores were never verified. So they lost some credibility with me. I think Twin Galaxies should just focus on classic arcade games and let somebody else handle console games and computer games.
patbb #10 Posted October 23, 2011 I think that they become too popular after the King of Kong and Chasing ghost. The number of verification must have increase dramatically afterward and did not have the staff to take care of everything.
Mxyzptlk #11 Posted October 29, 2011 They've lost any credibility in my book and I refuse to recognize anything they list as accurate. Please expand, tell us what happened. I have a story also where I submitted a score (over a year ago) and has not been recognized. Honestly, there are probably thousands of scores acheived that have not been recognized. It would be great if there was an actual and factual web site that took scores in and were honest about them. I know it would be tough to do and I have no answer for that. VectorGamer #12 Posted October 29, 2011 (edited) I think Twin Galaxies should just focus on classic arcade games and let somebody else handle console games and computer games. Aurcade takes arcade scores CAGDC takes arcade world record scores MARP takes MAME scores Vectrex.co.uk takes Vectrex scores Retrocade Magazine takes scores on 2600, 5200, 7800, 8-bit, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Intellivision, NES, Odyssey 2 & Vectrex Edited October 29, 2011 by rmaerz
DrThielegood #13 Posted December 5, 2011 Its sad to see what has happened to TGI. I remember watching a few interviews with Walter Day as he did the "farewell tour", so to speak, and I remember thinking that his departure didn't bode well for TGI. Not that it was free of problems with him there, its just that, as mentioned earlier, the link to retro is all but gone. I have considered sending some 2600 scores in for the better part of the last 2 years but kids/work/life has kept me from doing so. Hearing how unresponsive TGI has been in verifying and posting scores I see no reason to bother now. Maybe I'll send them along to retrocade. Cheers, Bob
