carmel_andrews #1 Posted October 20, 2011 Link only http://www.develop-online.net/features/1437/David-Cage-From-the-brink Does this mean that practically every V/CG sold in the US as got some shooting action in it or includes a gun....must be according to the interview that Mr Cage (i am assuming he's no relation to the son of francis ford coppola) V/CG=Video/Computer Game Or could it be true that the US hasn't published a non SHMUP or FPS game since the likes of Doom or Quake hit the shop shelves (somewhat strange for a market that made stars (or superstars) of SMB, E.T, Pacman and Pitfall Harry) Or is Mr Cage just a schmuck who doesn't understand or follow the US games market like the US games market does Or is he focusing so narrowly on a 'minutei' segment of the US games market and not looking at the bigger picture of the mainstream US games market/industry What is the truth here, is Mr Cage speaking some element of the truth or is he talking out of that thing he sits on If it's the latter, then my thinking is, if Mr Cage reckons he's games are decent or excellent then perhaps he should put his marketing dollars (or Euro's, since he's a froggie) where his mouth is and market the games in the US himself (seeming as though he thinks his latest game sold like 2 million units plus (dunno if he's talking w/w sales or just sales to the US) or Perhaps he doesn't understand/comprehend that the 3 leading V/CG markets are different in makeup, in that the US market is different from the Japanese market and the japanese market is different from the UK/Euro market, which is somewhat different to the US market...after all, do europeans or americans like RPG's (where you have to wait like 1/2 a hour just to get about 5 seconds or 5 minutes of actual game interaction) like our japanese friends do or do our japanese friends like their games with more ammo and firearms that would make a doom/quake game blush profusely like i said....whats the truth here Somewhat related though...looks like the people behind Doom have released another Doom like game called 'Rage'...or is this 'rage' game somewhat akin to 'son/offspring of Doom' (i though i heard or read somewhere that ID software had stopped publishing Doom like games)
