Ed Siegler #1 Posted January 8, 2003 I have a Sears Video Arcade II that the shell is in good shape, but it's got some pretty funky dirt on it that simple soap and water doesn't get off. Anyone have any idea what kind of cleaner/mild degreaser I can use to clean this thing up?
moycon #2 Posted January 8, 2003 Squeaky Clean Squeaky Clean Squeaky Clean Squeaky Clean Wow this should be a sticky.
Smada Bez #3 Posted January 8, 2003 Goo Gone works good for me. I had some sticky funk on my jaguar and it took it right off.
Ed Siegler #4 Posted January 8, 2003 Squeaky Clean? I just read thru that thread and other than De-Solv-It, Fantastic, and Simple Green, I did not see any mention of "Squeaky Clean". Is that some kind of cleaner?
Ed Siegler #5 Posted January 8, 2003 This "stuff" almost looks like ground in dirt, almost a mold like growth of some kind.
moycon #6 Posted January 8, 2003 No it means when you are done with all these suggestions...yer Atari will be so clean... It squeaks!!
Albert #7 Posted January 8, 2003 I just read thru that thread and other than De-Solv-It, Fantastic, and Simple Green, I did not see any mention of "Squeaky Clean". Is that some kind of cleaner? Heh, I clicked on the link expecting to see information about a "Squeaky Clean" product also. I generally use Goo Gone to clean carts and remove sticker residue. I have also used lighter fluid, but that stuff is nasty and you don't want to get it on your hands! ..Al
CPUWIZ #8 Posted January 8, 2003 Lighter fluid is bad, mmmkay. Take the thing apart and wash the plastic parts like you would dishes, then dry them and give them a nice brand new shine with ArmorAll and you're done.
JCroniger #9 Posted January 8, 2003 I use an old toothbrush and WIndex. If it's really bad, I use Goo be Gone.
Ed Siegler #10 Posted January 9, 2003 Well, I tried the Windex, and then the Palmolive wash, but this stuff was pretty strict. I just bought a cheapy toothbrush and used some De-Solv-It, and it took about 95% of the stuff off. I want to try this Goo-Gone/Goo-Be-Gone. Can I get this at WalMart or Home Depot? Ed Siegler #12 Posted January 9, 2003 Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm no nightshift, so I'll pick it up on the way in. You gotta have something to occupy your time at work, right? Can't have those pesky work responsibilities keeping you busy, right? Is it called Goo Gone" or Goo Be Gone"? Just so I know what to look for.
oesii #13 Posted January 9, 2003 I think there are several Goo X products, Goo Gone is good because it's water based and won't eat away your plastics or labels too much. Goo be Gone and other ones are oil/solvent based and will eat your plastic cart casings and maybe your skin
CPUWIZ #14 Posted January 9, 2003 http://www.magicamerican.com/customers.shtml This works good to remove labels: http://www.tech-sales.com/degreaser1.html
Ed Siegler #15 Posted January 9, 2003 So, "Goo Gone" is what I should get and "should" get this creepy crud off of the case (and is also the water based, correct?)? I work in a Boiler Room. Unfortunately, I have many scars from chemical burns over the years. You think one would get smart and use protective gear. I'll shield my face, but I shoud be better with covering my arms.
