Cable I.D. needed.

Recommended Posts

I found this cable in with a large lot of Atari items I purchased earlier this year..

What the heck would one do with a male- male cable like this ??

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the sega genesis uses the same connector. I know it had at least one game that let you hook two genisi... genisises? er... two genesis systems together to play head to head.

The pic you took is grainy. Can you tell us if the connectors are branded? Do they say Atari or Sega? What are the changes of you getting a pinout for us?

Did I read in another thread that this may be a Gemini cable for their special paddle controllers?

does the one the genesis uses look different from that... if not so much it's prob just the one for the genesis, just cuz it was in a lot with atari stuff doesn't mean the seller just didn't know...

Holy crap! If it's what I think it is, those are very hard to come by, not sure how valuable they are, but it was for ONE game on Sega Genesis.

Zero Tolerance. An FPS. This was for multiplayer. you needed two Genesis systems, two copies of the game and two TVs. you would connect both Genesis units by linking the second players ports together with this cable.

When I bought Zero Tolerance (new back in 1995 or so) it came with card you could send away to receive the cable, I sent mine away, but never did receive a cable :(

I always imagined it'd be longer, seems like both Genesis units would have to be pretty close together... thats IF it is what I think it is, can't see what else it would be...

If it is indeed M/M the only port on the Genesis (that I can recollect) it would fit is the Ext. Port found on the back of the early models which is really just another controller port with a female plug.

If its just pinned straight through it would serve as a gender changer for a 9-pin device with a female connector.
