Reading the manual is highly recommended! Atari 5200 rom only for this round as the controllers are a huge part of what makes this port different. Emulation is allowed . Pics recommended, but not required. Round ends on Sunday, November 27th 2011 @ 9pm EST Current HSC record: Beat it for a bonus point! Current record holder still plays here, perhaps he will choose to defend? River Raid - sdamon 147,250 NEW!!! Highest bridge # reached: sdamon- bridge 59 Bonus challenge(s): Points will carry the day in this round, but progress will also be rewarded. Player with highest # bridge reached will get a bonus point. I've played them all and feel that this port of River raid is the best one. Not everyone will agree with me. Play your favorite one(or 2nd favorite ) and prove it for a bonus point. This seems to be the best of the three I have played... 2600 the original is nice but the course gets a little monotinous after 20ks. I also like Galaxian, Defender, Qix, Berzerk, Gyruss... Sonic R Posted November 17, 2011 Share Posted November 17, 2011 getting better… 45,860 and did a run on the Colecovision 27,210 I have to agree with Zylon… the 5200 version is better as it offers better control… Colecovision version is a fight with the controller and is very hand cramping! the 5200 version also looks better! Best strategy is to have many saved up lives and just try to slowly shoot as much as possible and get thru 1 bridge per life until you hit a stage or two with more fuel tanks. Now that I figured out how to get my Videogame Wiz A52 flash cart to work again, I can play more HSC challenges. I actually don't have a 5200 River Raid in my collection - I used to but it stopped working. I just checked, it's been 4 years (2007) since I got that high score.
