+kisrael #4 Posted January 11, 2003 What's the big deal? If someone hasn't played the original much, this trailer (assuming it's the one on IGN right now) just isn't that amazing. I put *so* little stock in prerendered (even if it's real time, it's noninteractive) scenes like this...I wanna see the gameplay!
Cupcakus #5 Posted January 11, 2003 They probably havn't finished game play just yet... so they have nothing to show... But those scenes are not Pre-Rendered in the slightest. They are scripted elements of the game engine... so what looks good enough to be considered prerendered is actually what the game is going to look like the whole time!!! Yeah, but what looks good, huge brooding and dramatic, in a cutscene might not make that good of a game. The EGM coverage of the game, with its pseudo-retro graphics showing off the new features of the game (and some limited coverage of the graphics, comparing the old and new models for the main character) interested me a lot more than this trailer. Starscream #7 Posted January 12, 2003 Well, Bugie isn't a group of half asses that will rush a game out just to have a sequel. No doubt that this will be a benchmark game period. I thought the trailer did exactly what it was meant to do - leave you wanting more. Better than most trailers that show the only good parts of a game in 30 seconds. Add the fact that gamers no longer have to settle for decent graphics but sweet looking cutscenes, Halo 2 will look bad ass throughout. I can't wait for it, but as I said above, Brute force is what I am really wanting. It's amazing.

But lets not forget Bungie is in the armpit of Micro$oft... and this game may be rushed to meet big brother's needs.
Starscream #9 Posted January 12, 2003 Well, if you consider waiting 2 yrs for a sequel rushing it, then you are right
+kisrael #10 Posted January 12, 2003 I thought the trailer did exactly what it was meant to do - leave you wanting more. Eh, I think it only did that for fans of the original. Maybe that's enough.
Ze_ro #11 Posted January 12, 2003 For some reason, I feel the need to mention that graphics mean nothing if the game itself isn't fun... but hopefully anyone who visits an Atari-oriented board should already appreciate the gameplay-vs-graphics situation.... --Zero
