Is my copy of Stargate Pal or just broken?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. About a month ago a obtained a copy of Stargate for Atari 2600 at a used game store here in Las Vegas for $2. When I attempted to play it, the screen "rolls" which I immediately believed to be one of two issues. The first was that my AV mod didn't like this title, or 2, the copy is PAL. Today I had the opportunity to try the game on an unmodified 4 switch 2600 and it did the same thing, then I tried it on a 7800 and same thing. I've tried hard to find a label variation or any detail to prove that my copy is PAL but haven't been able to find anything. Further, a friend tried their copy on their TV and it worked (didn't roll) but the colors seemed "off". With out having PAL hardware, what can I do, or how can I tell if my copy is indeed the PAL version? I understand that "rolling" could be a symptom, I just want to satisfy my curiousity...

Thanks!

Below is a photo of what the screen looks like

Here is the photo of the cart. I also want to clarify that in my original post I said my friend had tried their copy... what I meant to say is they tried my copy and it worked (no distorted picture) but the colors were messed up.

Thanks!

Its almost certainly a PAL copy. If your TV has a vertical hold you can adjust taht so it does not roll and then the only issue is the colors, which doesnt affect playability
