Suppliers for chips (6502/6522) in the UK. anybody know?

Recommended Posts

I know this isn't strictly related to the A8 because it's a commodore 128D I'm trying to revive, but given that these are common chips for 65xx-based machines I thought someone around here might know...

The symptoms of my dead machine (well.. internal diskdrive) point to either a 6502 or 65SC22 being dead, and from past experience I'm willing to bet on the 6522. Does anyone know of a supplier in the UK where I can get those things these days?

I was going to suggest the stardot forums for the Beeb but I see you've posted there too. You might want to PM retroclinic over there.

It's going to be the drive CPU that's died, so that would actually be a 6502 looking at the diagnostics list in front of me.

Hopefully the swop trick will diagnose it, but the sheet says the symptoms are the same if either 6522 fails. I know that wasn't the case on the 1541 though, so I might get lucky...

The 6502 out of early 400/800 (non Sally) is probably compatible with C= drives... but then again maybe they changed variant again with the internal drive of the 128D.

I'd like to escape from this forum (and others that I may have asked in) with my testicles intact, so I'm going to try and avoid cannibalising other machines - especially ones from other manufacturers. Having another dead machine would be the least of my problems compared to the holy war that would follow :)

The CPU for the C128 which is a 8502 is specific to it, and the C128 doesnt have 6522's, it has 6526's... which were for the most part only found in C= machines...

these parts you will need to find from either a donor C128, or a C= supplier...

sloopy.
