Atari 1200 XL blank screen

Hi all, I have an Atari 1200 XL that I have had for quite a while and it quit working last year. It does power on, but comes up with a blank screen. What IC chip would need to be replaced to get the machine up and running again? Where can I get one? Thanks

Not quite that simple. Black screen can be any of a dozen or more things.

 

First thing would be to gently push all the socketed ICs down - they can get oxidised pins and lose contact and stop working properly.

 

Next up would be to test key chips in another machine, it's generally the easiest way to work out what's gone bad.

A blank screen? A blank GR.0 screen or a blank, as in no video, screen?

 

When you press RESET and release it, does it click and re-sync the screen? (kind of a flicker...) I have found a couple of RESET capacitors that leak so badly that you stay in RESET forever.
