Serblander #1 Posted December 5, 2011 I just got back from an interstate trip where i was invited to a mini Retro Museum opening at a long-running family owned games' store. There were many awesome systems and rare games on display, and just as many great Atari pieces. Anyway, apart from the awesome CIB Eye of the Beholder game i got a few months back, i haven't purchased any Lynx games in YEARS!! I ended up buying 17 games in total (half of which were display only - but the owners recognized me from the tv games show and made an exception ): --> CIB - New/Shrinkwrapped: Viking Child « never had or even played it before, but i've been wanting to try it for ages --> Loose (most i already have a CIB of - got them for Com-Lynx play) 1x Battlewheels « my 6th cart! [Full 6-P ComLynx set] 2x Batlezone 2000 « never had or seen any in the wild before [2 of 4] 1x Jimmy Connors Tennis « my 2nd cart [2 of 4] 2x Joust « Already had a MINT box & instructions so now one is complete. [Full 2-P ComLynx set] 1x Lemmings « I know its meant to be rare/worth a bit, so i added it to the pile 1x Malibu Bikini Volleyball « my 2nd cart [2 of 4] 1x Qix « Already had a MINT box & instructions so now its complete. 1x Rampage « Still need 3 more carts... [1 of 4] 1x Shanghai « my 2nd cart [Full 2-P ComLynx set] 2x Slime World « my 7th & 8th carts!! Now i FINALLY have a Full 8-P ComLynx set! 3x Xenophobe « Already had one so this makes it a Full 4-P ComLynx set (still need to find a box for one though...) What i'd like to know is, the total cost was AU $265 but i got the lot for $200. As i haven't been in the Lynx scene for a while, would you say this is a good deal or not? I'd say it is because: 1. In Australia a good variety of (needed) Lynx games are not that easily come by. 2. I needed them to complete some ComLynx sets (which will be used at a large gaming expo over this weekend ). 3. Lemmings and two Battlezone 2000's Here's a pic of the spoils: http://twitpic.com/7oq26l Btw, i tried Battlezone 2000 and must say i was quite pleasantly surprised. I think 'm going to have to track down another 2 carts (one CIB)...

EricDeLee #3 Posted December 5, 2011 I think $200 US may be too much for all of that. True, the Lemmings could fetch around $40... but all of the others can be found really cheap (for the most part). But if YOU are happy with the purchase, then that's all that matters. True, you were able to complete or get close to completing Com-Lynx sets... so that can be important... if you got others to play with.

The problem is, i have been looking for many of the extra ComLynxable game bundles but could not find any suitable ones on ebay. What i did find was a couple here and a few there. I would have had to pay multiple international shipping charges along with the cheap (loose) cart prices, which in the end, would end up well over what i had paid for them all. When i think about it i wouldn't have spent $200 in one lot but it was a spur of the moment thing and i am running the retro event at a large annual gaming expo here next this weekend, so there will be plenty of ComLynxed games for people to play. ThomH #6 Posted December 5, 2011 Taking away Lemmings and valuing it at $40, that's 15 titles for $160 or $12/title, which is within range of how much the cheapest titles seem to get on eBay nowadays (taking it to be about £8 for us GBP types). Given that at least Jimmy Connors and Battlewheels seem to ascend into the next tier up where eBay types charge more like £10 (which is a little over $15), I think you're looking good. On vaguely the same topic, you're a stronger willed person than I am if you're willing to break the original shrinkwrap. I'm not sure what's happened in the least two or three years but — anecdotally — somebody seems to have found a massive warehouse full of unsold Lynx titles or something as they seem to turn up as frequently and not much more expensively than bare cartridges all of a sudden. With a renewed desire to complete my collection I've acquired quite a few in recent weeks but so far haven't been able to persuade myself to open any of them, even for titles like Battlezone that I've not otherwise played and which people say are good. It's not that I think there's any monetary value to keeping them wrapped, it's a question of untainted aesthetics.
