_ThEcRoW #1 Posted December 9, 2011 Hello, just tried a version that is floating around that it says is the original, but comes on one disk. It boots and show the ark, but then, shaky hand and it reaches a level that is unplayable. I think that this is the copy protection. None of the cracked versions work. They crash with two bombs and a static bee cursor. I want to play this version because i heard that it was developed on the st, and it has voices, missing on the rest of the versions. Also i have 4mb, could it be a problem? Thanks in advance!!!
+DarkLord #2 Posted December 10, 2011 Have you tried the sites like Dbug and Klapauzius online? That's where I'd check for working versions. Not sure about this game specifically, but some games did have more problems with the increased RAM. There are a couple of utility's out there that will allow your machine to boot up like a 1meg version. HTHs.

_ThEcRoW #5 Posted December 10, 2011 Thanks for the link. Will try the images suggested. The bladerrunner's one dont work, as it was one of the images that game me two bombs. Is possible to use jaymsa program with one floppy?. Seems that with ghostlink didn't works, and these images are msa and my program for writing images on the pc (floimg) don't support these. Thanks in advance!!!
simonsunnyboy #6 Posted December 11, 2011 JayMSA will work with one floppy and 4MB RAM. Do the following: install a RAM disk that can hold the MSA file copy the MSA file into this RAM disk start JayMSA from floppy insert blank floppy and write MSA file contained on the RAM disk to the floppy

Thanks in advance!!! Floimg should be able to use msa files with no trouble. What's the problem with ghost link? Simple to setup and works great at 57600. I did find that at that speed I need to leave the mouse untouched during transfers or it would get errors.
RodLightning #8 Posted December 11, 2011 I remember Captain Blood being one of those obscure games that only worked with TOS 1.0. I was never able to play that game on my 520STFM with TOS 1.2. This was a long time ago, but I remember being disappointed because it was one of the few games that only worked on old hardware. I'm not sure how accurate these memories are, being so long ago. Copy protection and memory issues could have been the problem. I would love to be able to play the game after all this time. I haven't thought about Captain Blood in 15 years. Thanks for the links! I would think that TOS version is no longer an issue with these "cracked" versions of the game. Admittedly though, I've never played this game, so I could be wrong. It should be alright with at least 1.02 as I played that game constantly on a Mega ST2 back in the day. That was the game that got me into Jean Michel Jarre with that intro song being a edited down version of Ethnicolour.
_ThEcRoW #11 Posted December 11, 2011 Rodlightning, im using tos 1.62. Seems that i have to give it a try booting with a lower tos. If that fails, then i will try the method described by simon. Thanks all for the help. When tested, will post here the results. Cheers!
