Sonic R
I guess I'll see if I can get a Beef Drop cart before the end of the year... I had played the 7800 version and found it pleasent so I won't mind expediting this into my collection…
ahuffman
Sweet, never played Beef Drop, but it looks really cool and I love Mario bros.
zylon
Both these games had the same number of votes when I voted. I decided that both should get a play since they always seem to lose by 1 in polls.

Despite my many quibbles with this game here it is... Mario Bros.. 172,050.. And beef drop.. (102,900)... I really started getting slaughtered once I used up my peppers.. Shannon
Thanks... if you look in the scoreboards I've participated in the HSC before (mostly Atari 800 scoreboards). But I'm pretty sure I've done the occasional 5200 game from time to time. Usually I dont have much time to do these though..

zylon
Got some play time in, but hope to improve on these. I can't wait to get the A8 port of Beef Drop since the 5200 control hurts this one IMO. Mario: 53,650 Beef Drop: 17,

But I'm pretty sure I've done the occasional 5200 game from time to time. Usually I dont have much time to do these though.. Hey man, I remember you from ATARI 2600 HSC, way back some 7+ years or more ago... I showed up at 2600 HSC in late 2005, I think? Just recently 2010, I finally entered most of the HSC's. I spend two or three years adjusting to moving south, then I got emulation, an Intellivision and my 5200 controllers fixed so, here I came back and better lol. Then Roadrunner gave me the 7800 HSC moderator job. I like it, it's fun.
+Cafeman
Mario Bros: 123,180. BD5200: 18,000. Beef Drop is a fine version of Burgertime, but I never enjoyed the original Burgertime for some reason. I never learned how to get good at it. Maybe this is my chance! zylon
I'll agree it's a fine game, just the non-centering hurts this one. So I ordered the A8 cart of it. This has been my least enjoyed custom cart I've bought for 5200. Not bad, but least good.

This has been my least enjoyed custom cart I've bought for 5200. Not bad, but least good. I'm used to the non-centering in general, but I agree with this game - I continually walk a step too far , or walk up a ladder to far missing my exit ramp. Then I die. Eh, what can you do - Burgertime is supposed to be this way.
kenfused
Beef Drop is programmed to always give preference to changing direction vs. going in the current direction if you do a a diagonal on the joystick. So if you are walking across a platform right and want to take a ladder up, you can press diagonally up and right before you reach the ladder, and Pete should take the ladder. Then switch to pushing the joystick up after you take the ladder. This should work when changing any direction. Also, if you are close (a couple pixels or so; I forget how much I allowed him to be off) to a ladder but not lined up 100% and then press up or down, he should automatically walk towards the ladder and take it. Ditto with going up and down ladders and not being 100% lined up with a platform. This was about as good as I could do with a 5200 controller and my attempt it making it a little better. These "features" also work on the 8-bit computer and 7800 versions. Edited December 21, 2011 by kenfused
+Cafeman
yeah kenfused, I am getting used to the control using the 5200 analogs. Did better tonight. I just stink at the game! new scores for both games: mario bros: 177,970. beef drop: 29,400.
