Two new 16 colour lo-res ST pics

Recommended Posts

My two favourite pieces of fantasy Artwork rendered down and colour tweaked for ST. Turned out so nice thought I'd share them.

(4x upscaled to a PC friendly 1280x800)

Nice work!

That could be a good background image for a desktop!

That makes me think of adding a kind of screen saver into ColorSTE. This could be a slideshow of cool images like these ones.

Agreed, nice job! That is Boris Vallejo, correct? His wife worked with him a lot, I think.

Always liked his work.

I got books and calendars but also in 1994 the official CD-ROM with much of his art scanned professionally into BMP format..

Yep an ST slideshow disk was the plan....still is :)

2 more in colour and one that took hours of tweaking in mono. Real mono does my head in.....those 254 extra shades really help!

Quest. Another of my favourites. 3 levels of zoom in colour, and one mono version of overall image.

Not sure, I uploaded them as GIF here to stop any artifacting/noise :)

I'm planning to do a disk full of colour and also a disk of mono for a slideshow.

What is the best GIF viewer for the ST and where can it be downloaded?

Your best bet would be to take some of the utilities available and convert anything

else into ST native formats.

Try here:

I know Photochrome will amaze you with the pictures it will display once converted.

can you link the pics in ST format for viewing on a real ST? :)

If you've converted them with Photochrome, there is a slideshow app that will display the pictures.

It's surprising how impressive those pictures look when they are small.

It makes you realise how good the ST could have looked if they had made a portable with a 2 1/2in screen.

How many colours do they use?

The original poster upscaled the photos to 1280X800. What ever program was used to do the upscaling added a bunch of colors to smooth things out. The first photo now has 188 colors and the second 221.
