2600 ... or 2600?

I was always referring to it as the Atari VCS in its heyday (around 1984). Somehow, later it became the 2600, and like Thomas Jentzsch, I also called it "two thousand six hundred" since "twentysix hundred" doesn't make sense in German, though that scheme works for numbers under 2000, so for giving a year we do say "nineteen eighty two", for instance. Another way to spell it here would be to leave out the "thousand", making it the "Atari two six hundred".

Just call it an Atari and everyone knows what you are talking about. Only 1 in probably about 1000 people today even know that Atari made a 5200 or 7800.

 

what about Jaguar, Lynx, and the various 8-bit/pc variations?
