Kyle22
I had trouble using BobTerm in ATASCII. Do you support ATASCII? Is it auto-detected? All I got was a bunch of ANSI or VTxxx looking codes garbling up the text. If my mistake, please forgive me, but I can't get on it with BobTerm. +DarkLord
I had trouble using BobTerm in ATASCII. Do you support ATASCII? Is it auto-detected? All I got was a bunch of ANSI or VTxxx looking codes garbling up the text. If my mistake, please forgive me, but I can't get on it with BobTerm. Hmm, we basically offer three modes - ANSI, VT52 and plain text. I keep planning on adding the 8bit version of ATASCII, but have never gotten around to it (that's my fault). The connect script only auto engages ANSI if the terminal software calling in sends a signal saying it is using ANSI, otherwise, it should go to the menu where you can pick what you need/want. Sorry you're having problems. Any other Bobterm users out there have experience with this? Thanks.
Tillek
Actually, do any Atari BBS programs actually support ATASCII? I know RatSoft doesn't, and I tried to find a way to do it.... the problem is that it doesn't support the CR/LF/EOL/WHATEVER translation since the ST uses a "standard" CR/LF scheme. I really wish RatSoft allowed me to do it, but since the author lost the source code and it's not in a language like BASIC... I'm not sure re-writing it is worth the trouble as I'd have to be dealing with modifying a disassembly.
_The Doctor__
huh? you must mean Atari ST BBS programs.... and then I'll follow that with 'standard?' for many years END OF LINE, CARRIAGE RETURN, and LINE FEED were all separate. The EOL key was also named RETURN or ENTER depending on what the keyboard's intended use or targeted use would be, later on such conventions becoming interchangeable with little regard to any of it. that's also why they were all were named as such... Kyle22
An RCP/M BBS system could be made to talk ATASCII. Pro! automatically translates ATASCII drawing characters to ANSI if required. This is not complicated. My main menu is totally ATASCII. With ATASCII <CR> ($9B) [155]. It is automatically translated to ANSI on the fly if an ANSI user connects. Any decent board can do this already, (or can be made to do this). Edit: [ONE LETTER] mis-spell. Edited May 3, 2019 by Kyle22
