Reaperman #1 Posted January 2, 2012 I was stumbling around the internet, and came across this nifty little gadget and ordered myself one. It's a wireless controller for psp. My thought is that I should be able to have pretty much the full console experience with it combined with the tv-out. Anybody have one of these? How well do they work? The internet seems to be critically lacking on information about this device.
Lord Helmet #2 Posted January 2, 2012 Interesting. I'm looking forward to your review. If it works well I will probably pick one up.
cimerians #3 Posted January 2, 2012 Yup let us know how it is. Hopefully its completely responsive and last a long time. Does this make the PSP the smallest console ever made?
Skarrj #4 Posted January 2, 2012 Now thatnis nice...to bad its a little late for me now
xenomorpher #5 Posted January 2, 2012 I would be very interested in it if it works well. No more cramped hands.
Reaperman #6 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) Official(?) site for it is here According to the instructions it seems like the drivers needs to be run on a hacked psp. I ordered from china (could not find any us sellers) so it will be a while before I can put out any kind of review. akator #7 Posted January 2, 2012 Interesting. Too bad it doesn't use standard wireless Playstation controllers. Curious to find out how you like it
Reaperman #8 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) I got this thing last night, and I've got to say that I'm pretty impressed. That said, it's got a lot of 'gotchas,' and is shooting for a *very* slim market segment. This controller makes Peace Walker awesome. Hell, something like this should have come packed with this game. Main questions that I imagine are out there: The L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons are mirrors of eachother. The right stick emulates the main buttons located above it (awesome for twin stick shooters and camera movement) R3 is used to control autofire--it's an all/none type of autofire setup. Quick Pro/Con Pros: Plugin install is easy and doesn't mess up other plugins in the list no lag, works as advertised. Wireless operation is fantastic. Works in system menus, games (not psx), and remote play (minus the home button) creative use of the right stick really adds to the usability of the device The cons: Requires custom firmware Receiver requires external power (will not run off of psp battery) 'Home' Button does not function in remote play Does not work with psx games at all, or in plugin menus (example cwcheat) Costs a lot ($50+) and it's plastic feels more like a $20 controller. LED indicators *way* too bright. (I covered them with electrical tape) Most games are optimised for the standard low-quality analog stick, but that's the PSP's fault. Lacks some of the psp face buttons (volume, screen, musical note thing) Edited January 19, 2012 by Reaperman
Austin #9 Posted January 19, 2012 Sounds great, but it also sounds like there's a little too much leg work needed to get it to work (for people that do not have CFW anyway). Bummer.
+TrekMD #10 Posted January 20, 2012 I was not aware that this even existed. Thanks for posting about it!
Rikkarr #11 Posted January 20, 2012 It seems interesting! Shame about the lack of compatibility with PS1 games, but oh well. It would still be cool to have!
MagitekAngel #12 Posted January 20, 2012 I really like the sound of it, except for the fact that I have to run it on a hacked PSP.

Thanks for being a guinea pig and posting your review I'm definitely tempted, but the price is somewhat of a stumbling block because I'm unsure if I would ever use it enough to warrant the purchase... +Gemintronic #14 Posted January 26, 2012 What about homebrew and emulators? Any compatibility issues so far?
+Gemintronic #15 Posted February 17, 2013 Meh. This thing sucks. The wireless range is awful. The rapid fire cannot be turned off. Analogue stick is broke for most games including Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Monster Hunter.

Analogue stick is broke for most games including Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Monster Hunter. I believe r3 turns rapid fire on/off, and the analog stick usually functions as a two-step thing, based (I'm assuming) on how the software was designed to handle the original hunk of crap. Atariboy #17 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) It's ashame that Sony never released a way to control your PSP with a Playstation 3 controller by the PSP and a PS3 communicating via WiFi while the PS3 talks to a controller normally via Bluetooth. Resistance PSP does this if you own Resistance 2 on the PS3 and it works well. Instead, you're left purchasing a PSP Go and downloading games if you want an official way to connect a PS3 gamepad to a PSP. My thought is that I should be able to have pretty much the full console experience with it combined with the tv-out. If you don't already have one, consider adding Sony's Playstation 3D monitor that came out a year or so ago. Only official way to get full screen 16:9 output from a PSP on a tv with PSP games. Custom firmware that allows it has performance issues I've heard and the 3rd party upscaler floating around out there cost as much as this monitor can be had for at times (And doesn't handle it as well with worse picture quality and a fair bit of input lag).
