A_Locomotive #51 Posted January 17, 2012 Microvision, Epoch Game Pocket Computer, Palmtex SuperMicro, all important forerunners of Game Boy. As for good looking handhelds and an excellent libray of games to boot: Nokia N-Gage Until you actually use it as a phone, then you get to explain to people why you are talking into a silver taco. high voltage #52 Posted January 17, 2012 (edited) That joke gone stale. I used it during a bus ride last week, and young kids are like....wow, is that a phone, how cool is that... Even back in the days when I used it on a regular basis it always drawn attention. Great phone. Edited January 17, 2012 by high voltage
PFL #53 Posted January 17, 2012 Best, undoubtedly, is the Vectrex. What a cool looking system - and it's all self-contained. Most consoles look nice until you start plugging things into them. Then they invariably become Franken-machines with bits hanging out everywhere... Worst, for me, would be the front-loading NES. A grey box which blinks at you is so uninspired... The toploader is pretty though.

PFL #55 Posted January 17, 2012 Best: Master System Worst: Odyssey 2 Which Master System? I really like the first one. The second looks nice from a distance but looks a little cheap up close...
Seob #56 Posted January 17, 2012 Best: Master System Worst: Odyssey 2 Why master system and why odyssey2. Would love to hear you're reasons. I really can't say that i have a console that i would call worst looking. Every system i own has a few things i like and a few things i "hate". But they all got something that attracts. I would say devices that look like they belong to a audio set look the least inspiring, like the some of the magnavox cd-i, commodore cdtv and pioneer laser active. But they also have something that i like.

Great port of Worms for the time, huh?
SlowCoder #58 Posted January 17, 2012 Just to be a contrarian, I'd also mention the original "fat" PlayStation 3: I don't own any modern consoles, so I only got the chance to see the PS3 in person fairly recently, and I was aghast at how ugly and clunky-looking it was. Perhaps the newer models are nicer. Well this is definitely one of the few cases where I'd have to disagree with you. Of all the current consoles, I think the original/phat PS3 is the Big Black Sexy of the bunch. It's the only recent machine that has said "look at me, I'm beautiful!" My Big Black Sexy ate the big one a few days ago, and I was forced to get the new slim model, which looks and feels like a toy.

Dontcha believe it, N-Gage mostly shines with releases, complete collection here, incl Flo Boarding, Payload (full game inc. serial#), Snakes (d/l), Super Fighter Block Battle plus Alien Front and Virtua Cop complete d/ls

Seob #61 Posted January 17, 2012 I don't think this combination will work.
MagitekAngel #62 Posted January 17, 2012 You're probably right, that tower needs at least two more 32Xes to have enough processing power to support the Z80 while it runs Sonic 3 & Knuckles & Knuckles CD.
BillyHW #63 Posted January 17, 2012 Does the Master Gear Converter work with the 32X?
Rex Dart #64 Posted January 17, 2012 Master Base Convertor? I've been told it does not.
Rex Dart #65 Posted January 17, 2012 So I really really like the design of Sega's Master System, but I cannot find a decent-looking specimen in the wild. Were they made out of super-brittle wax or something? Always seem to have at least one corner smashed in, or a big crack across the top.
Seob #66 Posted January 17, 2012 We'll besides a master gear converter that will not work with a 32x, the first cart in the master gear converter is a cleaning cartridge. It hasn't got any electrical components in it, so the games / carts after this aren't connected to the genesis.
twoquickcapri #67 Posted January 18, 2012 BEST: Neo Geo CDZ WORST: Any CD-I Ummm, what's the difference? Two very similar-looking rather anonymous grey boxes... The CDZ looks better in-person. Its has this weighted well-built fill to it. It just feels high-end to me and I love the pad controller that comes with it. I think SNK has some of the best looking console with the only dud being the the front loader CD. The CD-i on the other hand is the only console I've owned that I feel was a total waste of my time and money. I bought it back in 96-97 time frame because of the the Zelda games(didn't know they were bad) and the CD-i, VCD movie format. I had the 450 model with the optional Digital Video Card. The cd-i movies I bought were unwatchable do to really bad pixelation. They play way better on my PC and later my DVD player. So I was left with movie player that could watch my movies and a game system that the only game I enjoyed play was Tetris. Also the system is cheaply made. It was so bad that the little badge that came with the Digital Video Card broke when tried to install on the system. Plus the other cd-i players look like dvd player. So yeah........ something like that.
twoquickcapri #68 Posted January 18, 2012 Most consoles look nice until you start plugging things into them. Then they invariably become Franken-machines with bits hanging out everywhere... I always felt the 32x in a CDX was the better setup.

+atari2600land #70 Posted January 20, 2012 Worst: Odyssey2. Does it really have to be that big? It's probably bigger than a friggin X-Box! Best: I like how the Virtual Boy looks. So sue me. I also like the N-Gage. What is Space Impact Revolution X, though? Never heard of that one before.
Megaman Legends #71 Posted January 22, 2012 best : vectrex so kewl wh those gray stripes worst:n-gage how many friggin buttons do u need?!?!
SlowCoder #72 Posted January 24, 2012 Of the systems in my collection, which you can see in my signature ... Best: 2600 Heavy Sixer. Coming a close second would be the Intellivision 1, barring the cart-in-the-side issue. The console is just beautiful. Worst: 2600 Vader, and forward. Though the Vader is basically the same as the previous versions, it lacks the visual appeal of the previous versions.

Austin #75 Posted January 24, 2012 worst:n-gage how many friggin buttons do u need?!?! No offense, but this is an asinine response. It was a telephone, dude. Not only that, but it had fewer buttons than a 5200 controller. Did it? It had the full phone layout, but it also had the menu keys as well as the other OS-specific buttons. Maybe it's close.
