Vectorman #1 Posted January 12, 2012 I've finished brain-burstingly difficult games like Pitfall II and The Heist on CV but I've never been able to make progress in Wing War, even with the instruction manual. Is there an end? What's at the end?

Pixelboy #4 Posted January 16, 2012 I could never get passed the fire-breathing demon, who supposedly guards some kind of treasure. Years ago, I remember managing to kill this demon at least once, but the cave of the demon's lair was too narrow for my dragon to fit through, and that's the only part of the game I could never figure out. If I remember right you sit on the ledge and shoot his feet. It takes severel hits and the diamond is in that cave. He's a easy kill. I'm trying to remember but I also think he's there on your way out too but don't hold me to it.
Dennis Stith #6 Posted February 17, 2012 True the game has no end. Nostalgia factor on this game is high for me. In the late 80s my brother purchased a box of Coleco games at a Silicon Valley swap meet. Since he didn't own a Coleco, he gave them to us and this was one of the games (along with a few other imagic titles. imagic sure knew how to make good games in the 80s! Wing War, Nova Blast, Dragon Fire. All totally awesome games and you should get them if you haven't already) So for Wing War, I found this on a quick google search a couple weeks ago: http://www.orphanedgames.com/articles/Wing_War%20(Colecovision)/Wing_War.html which basically starts out as a story describing playing the game. Basically you have to collect fire, air, and water crystals and drop them in your lair to create a super crystal which will be counted on the lower left of the screen. This in turn gives you more health and more fire balls to shoot, both of which are limited. You have to create enough super crystals to increase your fireball inventory to a point where you can use the fireballs to kill the rock demon whom is 3 screens on the bottom left of the lair. And after you get in, you collect a super crystal there and have to go back and defeat the rock demon once more and then take the crystal to your lair. Air crystals will disappear if they fall and touch anything and the other two crystals won't disappear but if you try to collect the fire crystal when it is orange, you will get harmed or get killed. The water crystal doesn't cause any danger. Also different creatures yield different types of crystals when defeated. If you are in the sky, the creatures in the sky will yield air crystals when defeated. Near the water, they yield water crystals upon defeat, and under ground, the enemies yield red fire crystals upon defeat. I haven't played this in a couple weeks so I can't recall the order of crystals, but if you drop them in the lair in the wrong order, they will cancel eachother out. I think you have to first drop air, then water, then fire maybe. I'll edit later if I load it up and try again. I was using the coleco emulator on wii and it supports save states so I was able to get very far, but no end in sight. I have the original cart and coleco set but I took it apart again and waiting for a part to repair the RF output jack and I'm sure that will go very well. Dennis Stith #8 Posted February 18, 2012 wow whoever is playing is terrible, look at the deaths lol. got a crystal out from the rock demon by dying even rofl. I see now though here, fire air then water crystals and the guy made 2 super crystals and went after the rock demon. apparantly that was too few. the tutorial I showed above said to make 8 and then go in there. I think you can do it on less but I just followed the instructions and it went well. In my save state, I have 3 dragon eggs and a pretty high score now. This game is fun but once you figure it out, you see that it is yet another repetative small game on the Coleco. 10-minute unedited gameplay video of Wing War.
