w1k #1 Posted January 13, 2012 hello, which arcade games are good on st? i buy 100 diskettes and i creating collection of good games
Rybags #2 Posted January 13, 2012 Bubble Bobble was really well done. Outrun is supposedly worth a look. Buggy Boy is pretty faithful but not such a great game. The Gauntlet games are supposedly well done. Championship Sprint, pretty well done and fun to play. Also Arkanoid, Blasteroids, The New Zealand Story, Xenon, Klax, Pang, Star Wars. Plenty I've missed and maybe one or two of those didn't make it to ST but it's a start.
w1k #3 Posted January 13, 2012 hm and games like TITUS THE FOX, PREDATOR?
Lynxpro #4 Posted January 14, 2012 Rolling Thunder was good.
TwiliteZoner #5 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Moon Patrol and Joust are two of my favorites. I think they're pretty faithful to the originals. Actually most of the Atari released arcade conversions are good. There may be 1 or 2 klunkers, but I think on the whole they're a pretty good set. Lynxpro #6 Posted January 16, 2012 Gauntlet on the ST is awesome.
NightSprinter #7 Posted January 18, 2012 I agree with Gauntlet and Gauntlet II (latter can use 4 players with a printer port adapter). Moon Patrol's as close as one could get to the original arcade in my eyes. Rainbow Islands was another good conversion.
simonsunnyboy #8 Posted January 18, 2012 Lethal Xcess and Wings Of Death need to be mentioned, ace shooters and technically the best on the ST.
tjlazer #9 Posted January 18, 2012 Karateka and World Karate Championship
+rdemming #10 Posted January 19, 2012 Karateka and World Karate Championship And IK+ of course. Also Giana Sisters is a great game. Robert
+CyranoJ #11 Posted January 19, 2012 Without a doubt, Gauntlet II, Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands.
TwiliteZoner #12 Posted January 20, 2012 Just looking at some disks and forgot about Road Runner. Very good port of the arcade game.
NightSprinter #13 Posted January 20, 2012 If I'm right, I think Elite's port of "Commando" was quite well-done.

Lynxpro #15 Posted January 22, 2012 If I'm right, I think Elite's port of "Commando" was quite well-done. http://klapauzius.ne...s.html#Commando Nice link! I had no idea Gauntlet was compatible with the Falcon. I certainly never tried playing it on my Falcon when it was my primary system; I think I gave my copy to my younger cousin when he bought my 1040ST when I upgraded. Back in the day, I didn't mind the "crawling" of Gauntlet on my 1040. It was nearly a "perfect" arcade conversion considering how terrible the NES version was. Never tried the ST version with a 4-player adapter...
Inky #16 Posted January 22, 2012 Gauntlet 2 with the 4 player adapter is the BEST arcade conversion on the ST. I also liked Crystal Castles, Road Runner, Moon Patrol, Berzerk (Any of the Dave Munsie arcade conversions)
NightSprinter #17 Posted January 24, 2012 Oh, man, Gauntlet II was probably the best one I've played. All of the sounds and voice samples were surprisingly clear for a stock ST, and it had every feature from the arcade original.
ParanoidLittleMan #18 Posted January 24, 2012 ... Nice link! I had no idea Gauntlet was compatible with the Falcon. I certainly never tried playing it on my Falcon when it was my primary system; I think I gave my copy to my younger cousin when he bought my 1040ST when I upgraded. ... It was likely not Falcon compatible. 'Patching' is for making it compatible. Sometimes not necessary, sometimes requires lot of time. And lot of originals fails on Falcon because copy protection for instance. I did today fixing for TT and Falcon of Galaxy Force - Sega game. I don't know how it looks on arcade machine, but conversion seems well made. Little similar with Space Harrier. And while fixing I discovered something interesting considering Timer-B behaviour and related problems. http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/galaxyf.html
R.O.T.S #19 Posted March 2, 2012 Ghost`n Goblins is not too bad but just as annoying and aggravating as the original
Jet-X #20 Posted March 2, 2012 Just looking at some disks and forgot about Road Runner. Very good port of the arcade game. It could have been better, and not sure why they couldn't put in the voice samples that the arcade game used (Gauntlet proved you could do a great conversion)

I think even the old pc version made some lame noise for that. Still, the game play is really good. I play the crack and use infinite lives :-p Edited March 3, 2012 by Official Ninja
