NEO GEO console project

Recommended Posts

Yet another NEO GEO MVS in custom case.

The project took around 1 year to complete. At first I did not know how I wanted to be done, should it be in cabinet, or coffee table, bar top or console.

Finally I decided that I want to make console type, for space reasons.

Then I had to decide how I will make it, that took forever to finalize.

And last, getting all the parts and pieces.

The frame is done with wood, and top and bottom plates are aluminum, painted with "flat" black enamel.

The gamepad is made from very old PC gamepad. I gutted the electronics and wired it per NeoGeo pin-outs.

But now it's done, my very own NeoGeo Arcade.

Great job! I still need to get off my lazy ass and build mine. I've already ordered everything to make one, but the board and components have been sitting in a box for about 3 years now...

So that yellow cartridge holds all the neo geo games? I guess I was expecting to see multiple cartridge slots.

Yes, It's a multi-cartridge 111-in-1 games. Mostly triples and hacks, got it on this forum.

Nice job, the MVS is one of my favorite arcade systems and way more affordable than the AES. I have an upright in my home, but have been considering building one of these. I feel some games are just more fun sitting down on the couch.

The 111-1 is a good cart to have. It covers the basics and then some.

Looks good.

Does the motherboard get hot when the case is closed? Might want to add a fan? The multicarts draw more power/create more heat than standard carts...

There are now 120-in-1, 150-in-1, and 161-in-1 MVS multicarts. All have slightly different subsets of the MVS library. None of them have everything.

If your controller ports are wired as standard Neo Geo pinouts, why don't you get a Neo Geo stick? AES, Hori, or custom. After the effort of consolizing an MVS motherboard, playing with a hacked PC controller just doesn't seem right. :D

I don't feel any heat coming from the system after playing for few hours.

As for controller, I will be making one custom joystick pretty soon. The one one I have is actually pretty good, no lag and very responsive.
