the jaguar emulation scene....Are things looking up

Recommended Posts

well, certainly looks that way since VJ started getting more updates (from the old v1.07...which ran things at a decent speed)

Only thing is ofcourse VJ is the only one of 4 emulators that could be considered 'current'

Since PT hasn't been updated since version.95 (at least the windows version, anyway)....perhaps we should consider that emulator 'dead' (since it hasn't been updated in ages....like steem on the pc)

MESS's Jaguar emulation hasn't worked since about version .134 or around that...don't know what 'broke' the jaguar emulation in mess, or did they switch over to new coding for mess which broke the jaguar emulation

And lastly the 'reborn' jagulator'...but it doesn't work (keep getting this 'jaguar boot rom file failed to open') msg as soon as you click on the executable and also when you select a game image to run (windows version ofcourse)

Perhaps the people behind the jaguar emulation in mess, jagulator and also PT need help getting their jaguar emulation upto the level of VJ (which as i understand it also runs cd game files as well as your standard game images)

if im not mistaken the jagulator issue lies in the config file in just defining the ENTIRE path to the boot rom file and not just a portion of it by default.

Its been ages since ive really fired up jagulator myself but i seem to remember that being the issue last i messed with it for fun.
