Surround - black and white box & manual

Does anyone have any info about some Atari games that were sold in black and white boxes? I was thinking about the games I have and realized/remembered that when I originally bought Surround (waaay back in the day), it came in a black and white box and the manual was in black and white as well. It had the same graphics and look to it (the two guys in the control room, but instead of color, it was all black and white. I remember thinking at the time that it was the last run of that old game and Atari just reprinted the box and manual in black and white (greyscale) to save money (at least, that was what my 10-year old brain thought). Interestingly, the cartridge label was in color. I likely still have the manual (not the box), I'm going to have to look now that I'm thinking about it.

 

Anyway, does anyone have any info about that? Just curious. Thanks,
