KubaCZ #3 Posted February 21, 2012 I think it's Turbo 2000/Super turbo.
+tf_hh #4 Posted February 21, 2012 Looks like an internal version of "The Pill!" or something like that... Can you make a photo from the other side of the little PCB, so that we can see the names of the ICs?
w1k #5 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) yes, it likes like internal cart or somethink.. but atari is death.. black screen, only small beep i listen when i turn on - like you turn on cart button. video from unboxing atari: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/20577942 Edited February 21, 2012 by w1k
+AtariNerd #6 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) I'm no expert, but I think those big gaping holes, where parts of the chips have disentegrated away, might be part of the problem... Edited February 21, 2012 by AtariNerd
Mclaneinc #7 Posted February 21, 2012 yes, it likes like internal cart or somethink.. but atari is death.. black screen, only small beep i listen when i turn on - like you turn on cart button. Does it work with the mod out? Mind you, I'm not stunned its blackscreen, looking at the pics I can see spots of solder everywhere on the leads and the PCB of the Atari looks like its had the iron on for far too long? Dodgy soldering, the bane of the collectors life... Best of luck with it..
Mclaneinc #8 Posted February 21, 2012 I'm no expert, but I think those big gaping holes, where parts of the chips have disentegrated away, might be part of the problem... Looks like its been kept somewhere quite damp... No way to treat a lovely machine like that...
w1k #9 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) it looks very old mod, maybe from 80-90 years.. the chips are holes, yes.. hmm, i try solder problem connections atari is not death, only black screen and something is cycling, when i push RESET i listen typical reset sound Edited February 21, 2012 by w1k
Rybags #10 Posted February 21, 2012 It looks oxidized to the craphouse. IMO you'd probably do better to just remove it. It's hard to tell precisely what it is - Covox was an earlier guess I had but now I don't think so. Internal Pill V2 sounds more feasible. Knowing what cart/ECI lines it's connected to would probably give the game away.
Bryan #11 Posted February 21, 2012 Is the chip printing removed, or simply painted over? A quick wipe across the chips with acetone might reveal the part numbers.
Rybags #12 Posted February 21, 2012 Look at the residual crud it left on the motherboard. It's like the ICs had epoxy or something put on them as some attempt at insulation, but it just inadvertantly created a moisture trap and the resulting mess we see, including wiping the part #s from the chips.
