Charlie_ #1 Posted March 1, 2012 I made a cable for my JVC model SC1224. I tested it with the ends open and it worked fine. I taped everything up and slid the ends on the DIN plug. Why I tried it again, I got no video from the monitor. Maybe I didnt tape everything well and something shorted. So this is what I am left with. If I use my trusted Goldstar SC1224 I get a purple screen that scrolls very fast diagonal what I should see a nice green desktop. If I use the monitor port woth my COMPOSITE cable on a TV I get the desktop but it is purple and very shakey. I get the same thing using the RF to the TV. I'll attach pics of what is going on the monitor and the TV. Also a youtube video of the monitor screen. Could I have damaged the video chip? Any help on what I could do to fix this would be great. Charlie_ #2 Posted March 2, 2012 It was the chip marked CO25915-38A I remembered I had a few spare chips in a box and replaced it with the same chip that doesn't have A on the end. Bingo. Video again. Now I remember that this chip without the A at the end is the one that makes Dragons Lair crack intro lockup. So, I'll have to check with Best at some point for a replacement of the newer revision chip.
+DarkLord #3 Posted March 2, 2012 Well, I'm glad you got it working again at least!
Charlie_ #4 Posted March 2, 2012 Well, I'm glad you got it working again at least! Thanks DL. GLUE chip is $35 from Best. I'm going to order a JVC monitor cable as well... It is really hard to solder the 13 pin DIN. Lots of pins, and no space. I probably didnt put the shell together the right way and shorted one of the wires and killed the GLUE. +DarkLord #5 Posted March 2, 2012 Fully understood. I'm 50 now, and I'll be honest, some of the stuff I'd like to do on my STacy has been really hard, because of tiny, cramped spaces and my poor eyesight.... But hey, we're Atarians so we gotta try at least once, right?
Charlie_ #6 Posted March 6, 2012 Installed the new glue chip from Best. Also got the monitor cable for the JVC. Working really well! (On the dining room table to my wife's annoyance)
