Rybags #27 Posted March 9, 2012 Grabbing it now. Putting along @ 15 K/sec, so ETA is about 7 hours for the A8, Jag and Lynx sets.
kheffington #28 Posted March 9, 2012 Yes took awhile but at times the speed was up to 512K/sec varied a lot though and usually lower. Maybe not too many seeders.
Rybags #29 Posted March 9, 2012 I seeder, 16 connected of 49 peers. I'd say most, like me, are just grabbing parts that interest them. But I'll keep seeding my part if the interest here picks up.
Mclaneinc #30 Posted March 9, 2012 Yes, JDownloader is JAVA based and it won't run otherwise. Stargunner: Maybe that download is not the newest, but seriously, how many changes can there be on a 20+ years old platform Anyways I can't find newer TOSEC then the one I posted the links for. PS: I've been running JD for at least 3 years now from a static IP and I don't mind the wait between downloads because I only download as a free user. I run Java as standard so I don't see it as an issue like Carmel does, those Londoners, far too picky And yeah, there's probably only little changes in the TOSEC sets over time, just pointed it out for factual purposes only. Been running Jdownloader for a couple of years here, does everything I want bar solving those annoying captcha's (well it did before they became more complex), I run a rapidshare account at times as I'm a big music flac collector for music from my era and a lot of the peeps use that, the 30k throttle can be annoying... Rybags #31 Posted March 9, 2012 Not much on the 'net these days works properly without Java. e.g. these forums - disable Java and most features would probably stop working.
Tickled_Pink #32 Posted March 9, 2012 AnotAnAaaa Another option is newsgroups. I have a premium newsgroup account and have been downloading retro stuff like mad. TOSEC stuff appear from time to time but not as regularly as they used to. So I'm not sure if I have the full Atari set or even how up to date it is. Rybags #33 Posted March 9, 2012 Seeing as new stuff comes out all the time, it'd be rarely ever "up to date".
+rdemming #34 Posted March 9, 2012 Not much on the 'net these days works properly without Java. e.g. these forums - disable Java and most features would probably stop working. JavaScript (aka ECMA script) used in web pages like this, have apart from the name, very little to do with the regular Java used in Applets, stand-alone applications (like JDownloader) and server applications. They are completely different languages. So better say: "Not much on the 'net these days works properly without JavaScript." Robert
carmel_andrews #35 Posted March 9, 2012 just noticed that after downloading that tosec set someone referred to (the wupload thing), it isn't the full set...it's missing the docs pack, sources pack and also demo's and magazines pack but i did come across a russian site with a slightly earlier tosec (same year though)

Mark Wolfe #40 Posted March 13, 2012 (edited) I use USENET to grab all the TOSEC stuff and more. a premium usenet account through GIGANEWS is well worth the monthly fee. use an NZB browser to download easily. use binsearch, net to search for what you want, download the NZB file and go edit: I think there are also some atari related FTP sites where you can download the entire TOSEC archive for Atari 8 & 16 bit. I'd have to check my bookmarks Edited March 13, 2012 by Mark Wolfe
