JohnnyBlaze
So, I'm the proud new owner of a Vectrex. It had all of it's caps replaced so it's as bright as the day it came from the factory. The one concern I have is the controller. It's so expensive to buy a new one and I've wondered if it's possible to open one and clean it and or replace the rubber. The reason I bring this up is that button 4 seems to not move as well as the other buttons. Some games like Scramble, button 4 doesn't react as fast as I depress it, but yet Solar Quest does. Also, I know that there was a person selling Vectrex controllers made from Genesis controllers. I'm interested in one as I have a spare one here I can send to be used. How much is it, who here sells it, and what games CAN'T I use it with(I know Hyperchase is one)? Fill me in on the experiences with the controller and anything in general I need to know about the unit. I LOVE this thing though as it is, ESPECIALLY with the VecMulti cart. Besides, after paying $200, I don't want to risk it by opening it up. I'm a little scared of screwing up the overlay and analog stick. Seob
I repaired my controller using this manual. It had a broken spring on the stick. If you use the hairdryer careful it isn't to bad to do. Normally when i open thing i break things very easily but this i managed. Besides what use is a broken controller even if it cost a lot? Welcome to the wonderful world of Vectrex! THANKS! BTW, what do you recommend better? The SNES controller or the Genesis one? Also, I found another site that would be most beneficial to those with a flash cart: http://www.skywaytwincities.com/Vectrex/Welcome.html I bought a few overlays from him on eBay. They should be here Monday. But, it's worth checking out. Also, he's working on an overlay for Mr. Boston Clean Sweep and sending it to me when it's done. cryptik76
I don't know how the Genesis controller is, but I have the SNES one and I love it. The recycledgamer.com guy does a great job with these.
