Brad2600 #1 Posted March 6, 2012 As nice as it is, it doesn't quite hold up to the original. So, I'm going to dig my A/V modded 2600s out of storage. Stupid question alert: Will the controllers from the Flashback 2 work on a regular 2600? I'm out of date here but I was thrilled to find the Flashback 2. I've been sick for a few days and no better distraction than Atari!
Lord Helmet #2 Posted March 6, 2012 Yep they'll work just fine
+save2600 #3 Posted March 6, 2012 I like that these things exist, but yeah - they're definitely no substitute for the real thing. I do like the controllers on an original 2600 though. Good feel and pretty reliable so far...

Good feel and pretty reliable so far... They're kind of "gelly" but still work better than the old, crusty ones I have. Looks like I'm stuck with the Flashback 2 until I can fix my A/V modded 2600s. bomberpunk #5 Posted March 6, 2012 in the FB2's defense, it's the second best thing to real hardware. all those anthologies on other systems are crap.
Brad2600 #6 Posted March 6, 2012 in the FB2's defense, it's the second best thing to real hardware. all those anthologies on other systems are crap. That's true. And another benefit is that it may encourage those who want to explore Atari's offerings to buy the real deal. That may be why Atari games are going back up in price (as mentioned in another thread). Syntaxerror999 #7 Posted March 12, 2012 What I never understood is why Atari hasn't just rereleased the 2600 instead of all this flashback crap. Be interesting historical foot note... System that holds the record for longest production life gets continued 15 years (?) Later.
mtshark7 #8 Posted March 20, 2012 What they should of done with the Flashback 2 is included a cartridge port to allow you to play original Atari 2600 games...rather than go through the hassle of modding one!

nathanallan #10 Posted March 21, 2012 There are a few Ataris that were meant to be Flashbacks that took carts, the white O'Shea 7800's the never got produced. Almost total reproductions, sitting, waiting. I cal;led and they do exist.
