Achievement Unlocked: CIB Imagic 2600 set

Recommended Posts

It took a lot longer than I thought it would, but I finally got the last game for my boxed Imagic 2600 set. So, first Activision, Then Imagic... I guess I go for the brutal remainder of Parker Bros next...

BTW, Subterranea was the killer for this one. Took me 5+ years. In that time three went on ebay. I didn't bid high enough on the first and I think it went fo $150+. So I bid $300 on the second and it went for $325... Finally got my sealed one for ....well... a lot.

Karmically, this means that all of a sudden there should be a ton of boxed copies showing up any time now at $50 BiNs.

Anyway, victory lap:

I'd already rationalized Atlantis 2 since it wasn't ever commercially available and technically, doesn't have a real box (other than a sticker)

I don't know what these double packs are though..They're not listed in the AA database as far as I can see...

Congrats! In addition to being rare, Subterranea is actually a really fun game to play too.

Also, Parker Brothers will be more expensive than Imagic.

Oops about Shootin' Gallery (unless your picture just doesn't show it). :(

Shouldn't be too hard to find, though. My last one was Subterranea as well, I finally picked it up last year (at a decent price, considering how much it's going for now). I love the Imagic style of boxes so much, I branched out to their Intellivision offerings (and Wing War for the Coleco - I didn't care for the PAL box shown above).

(Actually - there's also Mark's Sky Patrol and ... (can't remember the other one now)... that he did in the same style. Not an official release, I know.)

I only put up a pic of Wing War, not Shooting Gallery... a boxed WW is almost impossible to find nowadays. Yeah Sky Patrol is a proto and Cubicplor was also no official release. But you gotta get Shootin Gallery for completion.

Here's my Imagic stuff, just like yours really (well, I got two Atlantis, night version cover, day version cover).

Subterranea is cheap(ish) as a PAL version.

The 3 Double Paks are HES AUS releases right?

Anyway, I'm still 4 off the complete Activision/Absolute collection (Plaque Attack, Cosmic Commuter, Private Eye, Pete Rose), or 5 if you include Ghostbusters 2

Parker, still need 5 for completion: 007, Mr Dos Castle, Montezumas Revenge, Star Wars Arcade, QBert Qubes all not easy (cheap) for cib versions.

I think the last Shootin Gallery on ebay USA went for $150 cib (few month back). Here's the box:

Of course, if you don't collect Wing War cib, you never have a complete 2600 Imagic collection :-)

And we thank you for that. ;)

Very nice pics. Like others here, I've got the Imagic titles cib with the exception of Subterranea. My favorite find was Quick Step, because I had found it at a local game store and had no idea at the time it existed. New Imagic title? Cool. New Imagic title with what looks like a gummi squirrel and kangaroo on the box? Total win!

So was Wing War only available in the lovely salmon colour box?? I had no idea it was rare! Nice to see that Subterranea got a good home, I did wonder who paid all the $$ for it! I just wanted it to be a distraction from the Fathom CIB that I wanted :)

Like many others here I just love all the 2600 box art, they sure don't make them like they used to!!

Conrad, that second picture of your bookcase is pretty, pretty, pretty. :lust:

Is that an Ikea bookcase? If so, do you have any old VHS tapes laying around that you're not using? Lay 4 of them down along the back and the boxed games will come right out to the front of the case. Not the weird boxes, but you can work around those. :)
