VectorGamer #1 Posted March 12, 2012 Something must've been brittle and broke because all I did was swap out joystick controllers in the player 1 port between games and that's all she wrote. Symptoms: -Insert Pepper II cartridge -Game automatically begins at the skill level select screen as if there's a button stuck on input -Pepper enters the maze and automatically turns right and stops (this not normal behavior) -Movement works up and down but not left to right -A constant tone can be heard -Insert Pac-Man Collection cartridge -Up/down and fire buttons work fine -no response to keypad inputs It's not the controllers. The problem is with the base unit. What does this sound like and is it repairable?

Ikrananka #4 Posted March 13, 2012 I would suggest that it could be a cold solder joint where the controller port is soldered to the mainboard. Cold joints are not unusual in aelectronics of this age. Open up the CV and check continuity from the pins in the port housing to corresponding traces on the mainboard. If there are any that have no continuity then reflow the solder on those pins. If soldering is not your thing then see if Yurkie can help you out.
