Atari2008 #1 Posted March 16, 2012 I noticed this in today's New York Times, pretty cool to see the Atari VCS in a glass case at the Smithsonian http://www.nytimes.c...-easy-mode.html
BillyHW #2 Posted March 16, 2012 I would love to see this.

Atari2008 #4 Posted March 16, 2012 I was thinking, the Smithsonian has an Atari VCS in a case and I have it in my entertainment center.
jhd #5 Posted March 16, 2012 Not quite the Smithsonian, but the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria, B.C. has an original NES and a few games on display as part of their (small, permanent) exhibit on the popular culture of the 1980s. I cannot recall having ever personally seen a 2600 (or any other video games, for that matter) in a museum exhibit anywhere.
fiddlepaddle #6 Posted March 18, 2012 Personally, I think seeing a heavy sixer stuck to the wall of a TGI Fridays is more significant. The author seems to be celebrating the fact that, finally, games are being taken seriously, since the mighty Smithsonian has acknowledged them. I think they're just late to the party.
cobracon #7 Posted March 18, 2012 I just can't believe its not a Heavy Sixer in that glass case.
SlowCoder #8 Posted March 19, 2012 I just can't believe its not a Heavy Sixer in that glass case. I had that same thought. But I also think that may be because the L6 was in production longer than the H6. So people will overall be more familiar with the L6. I'm not disappointed with this decision. I would be disappointed if they had elected to put a 4 switcher or a Jr. in the case instead.
