Montezuma´s Revenge for iPad and iPhone

Recommended Posts

Just found this article in a chilean radio´s website:The release of Montezuma´s Revenge for iPad and iPhone. Here´s a sum up (in spanish but with the option to be translated) http://atariteca.blogspot.com/2012/03/lanzaran-montezumas-revenge-para-iphone.html . The main new is that -according to Robert Jaeger- this version will (finally!) have "a decent ending" that the 8-bit lacks.

I haven't made it to the end yet, but have been playing it in the iPhone for several months so this is not new at all.

It's way harder to play with on-screen controls compared to the good old joystick, but you can make some progress after getting used to it.

It has both modern look and retro-looking options, sound is the same.

Definitely brings the memories back. Even the retro-mode comes with slight sound and graphic upgrades that are not too invasive but make it defer from the original 8-bit version.

A must have if you ask me.

A retro remake that doesn't suck? Kinda rare.

But I do imagine not having a joystick or D-pad would make it much less enjoyable to play.

I have MAME for iPhone and I've dowloaded/bought other games.

Almost all old school games aren't playable without joystick/d-pad.

That said, I miss Atari VCS/A8 emulators on my iPhone.

I found many classic 8-way games impossible to play with touch screen controls. they were designed for joysticks ;)
