HatefulGravey #1 Posted March 23, 2012 Today after lunch with some friends I was wondering what we should do with the 3 hours we had before the auction we hit on Thursdays. I remembered that a guy at a local classic gaming store emailed me about some games in the back ground of a recent Craig's List ad I posted. So I went by there to see if he was working to talk to him about it. He wasn't so I took the chance to look around a bit. I pointed to the Donkey kong Jr machine in the store and told one of my friends "You should buy that for me man" like I had 100 times before. I had wanted it for some time. Like he had 100 times before he said "If they will sell it for $200 I'll buy it for you right now". One of the employees turned to the owner and asked if he would take $200 for it. To my surprise he starting thinking about it. I figured there was no chance and went to looking at other things. Then he said he would take it if we took it out of the store today, and that he could use the space. I started calling people, found a place to put it (my brother's bonus room) as I had no place for it at the time, a truck (one of my friends with me had one right down the road) and all the tie downs and such. Though it was a pain to move it as it was trying to rain all day she is now mine and I couldn't be happier. Take a look. Now, where to find a Double Donkey board for this thing? Will it just plug in and work? That would be pretty damned sweet by me!

HatefulGravey #3 Posted March 23, 2012 Looking around a bit it looks like most Dk Jr machines were orange. In fact I haven't seen a blue one yet. Now DK had blue machines. I also found a few people that trade boards and want a Jr board. I may trade the Jr board for a DK board and fix the machine up original DK style instead. I always wanted a DK machine and depending on what more research turns up I may have one before long. This is all so exciting to me.
schuwalker #4 Posted March 24, 2012 My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong DK gurus) is that the first line of Donkey Kongs were red. The latter half were blue (Popeye was also in a blue cab.) Donkey Kong Jr.'s were orange and DK 3s were red as well... BTW: nice score! DKjr. is my favorite of the series!
HatefulGravey #5 Posted March 24, 2012 You are correct about Dk and Dk3. I know a good bit about those two, Jr is the on the in the series that I know the least about. Everything I have seen about Jr says they were orange. The first Dk is my favorite game ever so I'm very tempted to put this back to DK and sell the Jr board to someone that cares more for it. I know the Jr board is the board they mod to make a Double Donkey board so there is a fair amount of interest in it. I may make a Double Donkey machine and just make it look like a DK machine. This way I can have the look I want, the game I want, and still have the Jr game that I actually purchased. Either way with only $200 in the game as it is it looks like my final project price will be a big saving over buying a DK game or Double Donkey game in any other time. I just got a great deal. Here is a link for the pic. and info. http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=donkey-kong-jr.&page=detail&id=
