How Much Should I Auction Items For? Atari 130XE + Others

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My father-in-law is a retired bank manager. Years ago a client gave him some Atari products as a gift. He never opened or used them. He wants to sell them and we are trying to work out how much we should auction them for. I have seen various price ranges on eBay etc, but thought I should find some experts to ask. Any help would be appreciated. Pictures attached.

Many thanks!

An opened 130XE with all materials should fetch an easy $100.

Printer and disk drive - probably not far off that either. Visicalc - no idea.

As for eBay - it's a roll of the dice, you might double that or might get half. You'd probably get a lower but still decent price here without the risk.

I know its against everything that logic suggests but when you say "how much should I auction items for" are you asking whats the highest Buy It Now price you should put on it? For that, go on ebay, look at completed auctions for the same items, if available, and you'll get an idea on how much they go for and put your BIN at that price.

However if you are willing to let the market dictate value, simply start your auctions at a dollar and let the chips fall where they may. I know I'm crazy and "old school" but ebay used to have actual auctions where people bid on items instead of massive online used store with outrageously inflated prices that never sell.

Could not agree more, i started on ebay when it first started and you could get bargains and also higher price items but now you just see pretty much the same things relisted time after time! Some people think because it's old it must be worth a fortune!

I paid 40 each for 2 brand new never opened 130xe's. Its really how much they are worth to the collector.

The 130XEs go for roughly $100 - $125 on Ebay NOS. Best and B&C still sell them for $150 new in box so they really aren't hard to find new. The 1050 is roughly $100-$125 if it's really NOS and the printer is roughly $50 or so.
