Turklelove #1 Posted April 10, 2012 I recently bought a Colecovision and it plays just fine all the games that I have also bought. BUT, it generally only plays in greens/yellows with no sound. I have gone through different RF connections, as was suggested to me by different people, and I have a switch type box now connecting it to my TV. Every once in a while,no rhyme or reason, I'll get sound for a little bit (maybe one game, til I die and restart a game) and a few times now random color. It even played color the other day when I switched out a game, then the color left when I turned off system for a while. Yesterday, when I started system up after being off an entire day, the color was there, but very short lived. I don't know if it is a cleaning issue (have not opened it up, we weren't sure how to do so and didn't want to break something). Or if its some sort loose connection...or what the heck it is. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated...I am going to probably bring it back to the store today to try and find a system to trade out that DOES work properly (the store owner already knows all the trouble I've been having) but am really curious as to what might be causing these problems. Thank you!!
ColecoDan #2 Posted April 10, 2012 I am sure many people can make suggestions and help you solve the problem but if this system is supposed to work according to a store owner then he should be going through this trouble and not you. You should take it back and get a different one.
+5-11under #3 Posted April 10, 2012 otherwise, doing a quick composite video mod might fix the problem, which appears to be RF related.

Turklelove #5 Posted April 10, 2012 Alrighty, I just hope he has one that works =P He originally did NOT give us the switch box cause he assumed that we wouldnt know how to work it! nice eh....when we brought it back the other day with the other RF we had gotten, all he did was hook up the one not working, instead of letting us test any others, being sure that it was the switch box that was needed (THEN gave us the switch box, but he didnt have the piece needed to connect it so we had to go back to Radio Shack a third time to it). So, TODAY I plan on trying to exchange the whole system...owner already knows we are going to be back, etc. Just been frustrating with the going back and forth for sure...

Turklelove #7 Posted April 10, 2012 Well, we exchanged it out...they tested out the original system I had plus another one, and it seems the original one has a loose connection at the RF point inside..(maybe needs soldering) which they are going to look into fixing. So I have one that now works all the way, but it is a teeny bit fuzzy and am hoping it will clear up with a proper cleaning. Keep seeing the Deoxit? stuff being talked about being the best thing to use. Is there a good/better place to purchase it from?
