NIAD #4 Posted April 12, 2012 It is a ColecoVision clone, they even made a version of the Exp. Mod. #1 Atari VCS Adapter for it, it used a round DIN-style joystick port so games that requires the special controllers (Super Action, Roller Controller and Driving Module) could not be played on it, no idea how many were made and sold, Splice released a large number of bootlegs (games released for the ColecoVision but with their names changed) and actually developed an original game called Castelo that I'm pretty sure was never released... but the rom file is available on the web. Yes, it is a clone, though as I remember the expansion port was different or something.

Yes, I made the ROM available long ago. It isn't really a game, more like a sandbox LEGO type of thing.

+opcode #8 Posted April 12, 2012 A second company (Microdigital) was planning to release another clone called the Onyx, which I was lucky enough to play in 1984 during a computer expo, but they cancelled that instead. Some 10 years ago we found one of the guys responsible for the clone and he said he saved several prototypes during many years, but had just trashed everything, like a year before we contacted him. The Onyx looked a lot better than the SpliceVision btw. Splice also produced Atari cartridges in the same shell as the Splicevision games. I sold a half dozen of them to Jerry G. years ago. And CBS had plans to release the official ColecoVision in Brazil, as I have documented in an interview from 1984. Of course they also changed their mind. +opcode #11 Posted April 12, 2012 Is the graphic are the same as the Colecovision? As I remember they translated the games to Portuguese... Or was it the Onyx? I am pretty sure the Onyx had translated games. Not 100% sure about the SpliceVision.
