atarilovesyou
1 week rounds sounds great to me! I really wish I put in a bit more time to get a better Mega Man score; making up any kinda points is going to be tough! Quick question, if only because I really don't know how the points work: is there some formula you use?
CGQuarterly
Yeah. 9 points for first place, 6 for second, 3 for third, andeveryone else gets 1 participation point. I stole the point scheme from Mario Kart 64. Chris
PeculiarSatyr
Never played this game but looks fun. I'll sit down sometime this weekend and see how well I can do.
cparsley
that's the SNES version scoring as well 9, 6, 3, 1 , x (with the difference of making the x=1)
roadrunner
There were alot of great scores for Megaman. I think scores around 300k should have got more than 1 point. Maybe use the F1 point system 1st 25 points 2nd 18 points 3rd 15 points 4th 12 points 5th 10 points 6th 8 points 7th 6 points 8th 4 points 9th 2 points 10th 1 point Or use the points system the Lynx HSC uses the 2600, 5200, and 7800 HSC's used to use this point system. 1st 11 points 2nd 10 points 3rd 9 points 4th 8 points 5th 7 points 6th 6 points 7th 5 points 8th 4 points 9th 3 points 10th 2 points 11th and onward 1 point

atarilovesyou
First time playing a full game of this. I'm still not sure what control scheme I like, but I'm thinking Control A will be the one. This game is quite different from any of the other versions I've played, pretty cool with the bosses. I think I should be able to improve this over the next few days, but a bunch of cheap deaths on the bosses sealed this one early. I still remember seeing this in the arcades way back when, with its completely awesome custom joystick (kinda like the Atari 720 jostick, you could spin it). There's no better way to play Gyruss, if memory serves...and it usually does. Yawn. 134,

I used to use a system whereby the points you received were proportional to your score, but then if someone had a score that way way higher than everyone elses, he could build up a near insurmountable lead. I don't like the system that the other HSCs use. Where's the incentive to go for first place if it's only one more point than second, and that's only one more than third, etc. The idea of our system is that win, place or show, that's where the money points are. So you have an incentive to better your score if you see your place dropping throughout the week. I like our system the way it is, but I'm open to discussing it if several of you feel otherwise. Austin
My cart doesn't want to work on my NES, so I had to bust this one out in emulation. Could probably do better (this score was my first play), but I don't think I am going to have time to do another run: 223,
cparsley
Hence why I used a modified one in the INTV (10-9-8-6-4-2-1)... I however like his for the # of participants in the game, and as it is his league, he has the right to define the score Edited April 23, 2012 by cparsley
