Space Rocks (2600)

Recommended Posts

Al should have the boxes soon, so we're getting closer to release date.

I haven't played in a while so decided to see how well I could do:

Can anybody beat 63,000 with the default settings?

NO I CAN'T !!! :_(

I tried and will try again soon. I do prefer the solid rocks, though. That is the only default setting that I change.

At least somebody's trying.

For me it depends on the display. When I use my 2600 w/S-Video on my C=1084S I prefer vector style graphics. On my 7800 hooked up to a 13" TV I prefer solid as vector style doesn't show up as well.

I gave it a try... I barely got over 10k. Love the game, though. I was using shields instead of hyperspace anyway.

BTW: Any idea when this game will be ready for the Atari Age store?

Sure don't, I'm impatiently waiting like the rest of you.

Hey, does this support AtariVox? For high scores and all.

No, it supports 2 concurrent players which precludes the use of the AtariVox.

I do plan for Frantic to support the AtariVox.

Oh shoot, I should have known that simply from the options.

Do you prefer a standard joystick, or one of the button controllers, like the Starplex, that mimics the 'Rocks arcade brethren?

While I have a Starplex, I tend to use a joystick or multibutton gamepad.

That's an extremely early version of the game, it's from less than a month along in a project that took 8 months to finish.

Looks like Space Rocks will be officially released at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo. I'm now considering attending it.

I just picked up a Starplex off ebay for $16. How'd you make that decal? Looks great!

CPUWIZ made it, he's doing a limited run of 5 controllers (they'll be available when Space Rocks is released). Mine is not one of those 5. I don't know if he'll make the overlay available to others to put on their own Starplex controller.

The overlay is a sticker, just peel off the back and position it carefully. Here's what it looked like before I applied it:

Already have a couple of Starplex controllers. Really hope CPU will release just the stickers for reasonable.

And really looking forward to this boxed release!

Ditto.

And I have a stickerless one also.

I don't need yet another one, but if I have to sell some I'd rather get the Space Rocks controller.

I miss my starplex already :( I'll have to see about snagging one of these custom controllers :)
