Omegamatrix
A Space Rocks review is up by VGC. http://videogamecritic.com/2600snr.htm#Space_Rocks
AtariBrian
Should be an A+
iesposta
A Space Rocks review is up by VGC. http://videogamecritic.com/2600snr.htm#Space_Rocks Should be an A+ I agree. Needs to be an A+. I just was playing yesterday. I also would have mentioned the configure screen allows for thousands of game combinations.
Thomas Jentzsch
I also would have mentioned the configure screen allows for thousands of game combinations. The review I just read mentions this.
+SpiceWare
He hadn't reviewed the game until now because he didn't like the Magna-Mines. He only recently discovered they could be turned off. I provided him some additional info about them, but never got a response so I figured they would be detrimental to the final score.
Thomas Jentzsch
RTFM! I suppose it is explained in there, right? Edited March 20, 2014 by Thomas Jentzsch
+SpiceWare
I think he played it on his Harmony, and I don't believe the manual is available online anywhere...
Thomas Jentzsch
That would surprise me. He hasn't reviewed Boulder Dash because he got not physical copy. So he must have a manual. And probably just did not read it.
+Nathan Strum
I think he played it on his Harmony, and I don't believe the manual is available online anywhere... That's why I only review games I actually own cartridges for.

Thomas Jentzsch
I had a plan how to arrange that for him.

I love the magna mines, adds a lot to the game. Of course, I absolutely love the game so I'm biased Don't worry about his review, there are better ones on youtube. Thomas Jentzsch
Maybe with the Magna-Mines disabled by default it would have become A+.
+SpiceWare
Lol with his reviews I think A is GREAT. A is great. I think part of it is Space Rock is significantly better than Asteroids. Maybe if Asteroids had earned a B
Thomas Jentzsch
All games are (or should be) reviewed based on the hardware they are using. So Asteroids is not that bad compared to Space Rocks.
+Nathan Strum
He really ought to revisit his Conquest of Mars review, since John fixed the laser gates to be more forgiving.
Zoyx
He really ought to revisit his Conquest of Mars review, since John fixed the laser gates to be more forgiving. I didn't know that, thanks. I bought the original, and stopped playing it because of the impossible laser gates.
Omegamatrix
I am surprised that he didn't like the Magna-mines. To me those are a huge part of the sophistication of the game, and add a lot of the original 2600 version. This is my favorite Spiceware game. The second favorite is still Medieval Mayhem. Love that dragon animation.

Good idea Nathan - maybe I'll reach out to Dave @ VGC and see if he'll review the updated binary. I always thought he only reviewed games he owned so I wasn't about to send him another cartridge after the D- score lol
iesposta
VideogameCritic reviews Space Rocks recently, and for now it has sold out! I hope the store isn't losing sales due to lack of hardware boards. I'm guessing Space Rocks sold a lot of Melody Boards. I also hope the website isn't losing money from Melody games. If so, charge more! And remind website users they can subscribe to AtariAge and ask to be added for Store Discounts. I can guess it is time consuming running a website and a store. Still, these great games are a bargain, even with adding $20 to get a box. I have Asteroids that has a discounted sticker of $29.88 in 1981 dollars. That is $77.18 in 2014 dollars! atarilovesyou
Space Rocks is sold out?!?!?!...damn me and my hesitation!
Thomas Jentzsch
No game is sold out. They are just delayed due to a temporary hardware shortage.
