Charmode movement is no big deal on the Atari. But, what you can hear is the 16 bit sound with faster updated sounds than 50Hz.

Come on - you don't even need to get your hands dirty with 6502 to prove that
oky2000 #4 Posted May 16, 2012 Are there any epic C64/A8/ZX/CPC/MSX vs C64/A8/ZX/CPC/MSX threads going on there?
+GroovyBee #5 Posted May 16, 2012 Are there any epic C64/A8/ZX/CPC/MSX vs C64/A8/ZX/CPC/MSX threads going on there? Not currently, but feel free to start one
oky2000 #6 Posted May 16, 2012 lol I think the people who started that place are most of the people left who still talk to me on this board section so don't think I should start such things in their back garden
+GroovyBee #7 Posted May 16, 2012 Format War is the domain name so it was created to have those exact types of discussion. Feel free to join up and start any sort of "vs" thread you want.
sack-c0s #8 Posted May 16, 2012 but it backfired and turned into a reasonable discussion about the relative pitfalls of all platforms in a reasonable way, with code to back it up and a collaboration. all FW proved is that people won't do what you intend. Maybe Albert could just rename AA 'flamepit that makes 4-chan look civilised' and retire from moderation as everyone behaves like an angel to prove a point?
oky2000 #9 Posted May 16, 2012 lol Albert is VERY patient trust me. He once emailed me to say I was suspended for a week and you don't want to know what I emailed him back (which actually I am embarrassed about now) and if I was the owner of this site I would have banned anyone sending me such a reply
Bryan #10 Posted May 16, 2012 Haha.. I bet Albert just threatens to ban people because he likes the abuse. Yes....yes... tell me I'm a bad boy... I've been naughty!!! <runs to check for a ban message>
oky2000 #11 Posted May 16, 2012 Nah it wasn't a threat, I was suspended for 24 hours for saying Wii is for lil girls, pregnant mums and agoraphobic homosexuals.....less politely
potatohead #12 Posted May 16, 2012 He probably was snickering as he dealt it out. I would have.
Shawn Jefferson #13 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Maybe Albert could just rename AA 'flamepit that makes 4-chan look civilised' and retire from moderation as everyone behaves like an angel to prove a point? I've read quite a few comments like this, and I actually don't see it. Most of the users here welcome people from other "camps", and even don't mind discussing some of the differences in the systems. There are one or two individuals who seem to want to fight about how our system is much better than "yours", especially when "yours" is the C64. Hardly the whole board. You might say, "well, those people are the most vocal!" Yeah, so? Ignore them-most of us do. Don't get drawn into their game. Discuss with the people who want to have constructive discussions with you and aren't so emotional invested in their ancient platform of choice. If you've been here more than a couple of days, you know who those people are. If you are English speaking and interested in Atari 8-bits, this is the place to find like-minded and knowledgeable people. PS. My comments are only about the 8-bit and Lynx forums, since I rarely visit the others-I'm only about the Atari 6502 machines. sack-c0s #14 Posted May 17, 2012 my comment was more about web forums in general - not just related to Atari, or even computers for that matter. People just have this streak through them where they will just 'to hell with what you say - I'm doing this just because' and will do something because you say they can't or shouldn't. Funny thing is I know that it equally applies to me, and it's a big chunk of why I like 8/16-bit stuff because 'that's not possible - you won't ever manage that on $SOME_HARDWARE' tends to come up quite often and be a pretty good motivation for coding stuff
