DarkKobold
So, I'm not much of an Atari collector, but I went to a crazy estate sale today. Sadly, the person who passed was probably a member here. This is just a view of what the person had.
AtariTexas
Wow!!!! I never run across estate sales like that Edited May 17, 2012 by BadHornet
nofrills100
So, what did you get!! Damn that looks like a goldmine. How were things priced? Edit... There is some rare stuff in there, still sealed, boxed... I truely hope you didn't walk away empty handed. Mirage
Where was this?
nofrills100
A pile of pirate games too Can someone identify what is under the Chase the Chuck Wagon and Spy Hunter... there are 4-5 boxed games each in a different colour that look to be a series... perhaps not for 2600? Boxed X-man, bunch of Tigervisions... boxed Video Jogger Mat... If anyone finds this place - buy the boxed pirate games for me and I will fix you up for them. Keatah
Sounds like a familiar user here. Eventually I'll remember.
AtariLeaf
Looks like someone should have paid more attention to this thread
DarkKobold
The stuff I got, wasn't atari, mostly sega, tg16, and 3DO. They had no idea, and I was honest about the prices on those sealed games. I did get the three 2-in-1 adult games for pretty cheap though. (sorta blurry, right after the chase the chuck wagon)
Desfeek
Where oh where is this!?
nofrills100
If you aren't taking anymore 2600 items you should let people know where this place is at.
knightrider_82
I bought some stuff and posted thread here http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/198052-how-to-tell-if-a-2600-game-is-truly-sealed/ looks like the stuff that is 'sealed' really might not be according to some of the members here. Thats why Im trying to see how to truly tell if some of these games that are there are 'sealed' and not new. @nofrills100 what pirate games are you talking about?
DeusExMachina
Nice stuff. I actually have 2 boxed foot craze controllers.
Mirage
I bought some stuff and posted thread here http://www.atariage....s-truly-sealed/ looks like the stuff that is 'sealed' really might not be according to some of the members here. Thats why Im trying to see how to truly tell if some of these games that are there are 'sealed' and not new. @nofrills100 what pirate games are you talking about? Could you please tell us where this estate sale is? Partially so others can maybe check it out, but mostly because this quite possibly was a member here, and knowing the city might be a huge clue to figuring out who it might have been if that is indeed the case. nofrills100
Knightrider, The pirate games are in boxes with plain colour spines and a series of stripes across the top. In the video they can be seen on a shelf leading up to the play around titles, and elsewhere too. (im on a mobile so I can't attach pics - but will find a link with pics.) Edit: like these in post 77 http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/159137-a-nofrills-collection/page__st__75 Also in the stack of games in the video directly to the right of chase the chuck, there are a bunch of half size boxes - these are also pirates. Basically there is a good chance they hae v-case cartridges inside (like those in my signature link). lapetino
Can you let us know where this was, or is the sale over?
Mirage
No kidding. Either way, sale over or not, please mention where it was like I asked 10 days ago. Why the secrecy? This could be about a fellow AA member.
kroogur
. Sadly, the person who passed was probably a member here. Then please tell us where this estate sale is so we can know if it was a member or not, finding a collection like this is an exciting thing but we are for the most part a pretty tight bunch here at Atari Age and would want to know if one of our own has passed. Mirage
Maybe DarkKobold isn't seeing these questions in this thread. He was last active yesterday, so I PM'ed him, hoping he'll reply either to that, or in this thread.
Master Phruby
The Dead Collector: Bring out yer dead. [a man puts a body on the cart] Large Man with Dead Body: Here's one. The Dead Collector: That'll be ninepence. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't:I'm not dead. The Dead Collector: What? Large Man with Dead Body: Nothing. There's your ninepence. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't:I'm not dead. The Dead Collector: 'Ere, he says he's not dead. Large Man with Dead Body: Yes he is. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I'm not. The Dead Collector: He isn't. Large Man with Dead Body: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I'm getting better. Large Man with Dead Body: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment. The Dead Collector: Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I don't want to go on the cart. Large Man with Dead Body: Oh, don't be such a baby. The Dead Collector: I can't take him. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I feel fine. Large Man with Dead Body: Oh, do me a favor. The Dead Collector: I can't. Large Man with Dead Body: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won't be long. The Dead Collector: I promised I'd be at the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today. Large Man with Dead Body: Well, when's your next round? The Dead Collector: Thursday. The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I think I'll go for a walk. Large Man with Dead Body: You're not fooling anyone, you know. Isn't there anything you could do? The Dead Body That Claims It Isn't: I feel happy. I feel happy. [the Dead Collector glances up and down the street furtively, then silences the Body with his a whack of his club] Large Man with Dead Body: Ah, thank you very much. The Dead Collector: Not at all. See you on Thursday. Large Man with Dead Body: Right.
boxpressed
Okay, I'll be the first to suggest it: hoax.
Mirage
Okay, I'll be the first to suggest it: hoax. Yeah, I've been thinking of that possibility since this morning. Either that, or just total thoughtlessness.
GonzoGamer
Wow, why can't i ever find a sale like this, usually all i find are scratched up PS2 sports games at sales, thrift stores etc.
Tempest
The IP says Salt Lake City Utah, of course that doesn't necessarily mean that's where the estate sale was.
FastRobPlus
It's seeming sort of hoax like. Just to be safe, perhaps we can ask every Atariage member who isn’t dead to post here, then see who didn’t post.
atarinut76
what's crazy is. I was over my friends house yesterday and he is parting with his whole collection. and his wife said if he would ever happen to pass she would just sell everything at $2.00 bucks a pop??? she doesn't care about any of it. I would say his collection is worth between $35,000 to $45,000.
