Kickstarter Projects?

Recommended Posts

In the same vain of spreading the word about good projects, one of the ones I funded linked to this one:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/70755535/dead-state-the-zombie-survival-rpg

It's more then just a zombie game, it's a encourging RPG with strategy aspects and being made by some very good and experienced talent.

Bump to help spread the word about Dead Space. There's only 24 hours left to help them hit ther stretch goals and add additional content to this game!

This game is best described a unique RPG with Fallout elements, tactical combat in the same vain as X-Com, and a overarching zombie story.

There are some talented and impressive people behind this project.

Here's what they had to stay themselves in the just relased update message:

This is it – the last 24 hours of the Kickstarter! This is the last chance to fund Dead State and meet our stretch goals. As of yesterday, two more of our stretch goals have been met and we’re well on our way to meeting our $300k stretch goal and unlocking the additional challenge of the City maps and a brand new ally.

With 24 hours left, there’s a few things we can do to help reach $300k and beyond. A lot of that is going to depend on reaching new backers and reminding people that this is their last chance to pledge or upgrade their pledge. Again, the easiest way we can do this is:

  • Write game sites and tell them to cover Dead State because time is running out. (Be polite)
  • Keep message board topics alive and tell people why you support Dead State or link to art or interviews. (Follow the rules of the boards)
  • Tweet or post about the game on social networks if you haven’t done so already – remember to tell people that the Kickstarter is coming to an end.
  • Remind friends who might be interested in the game and make sure they have a link to the Kickstarter project page.

Drawing attention to the project and getting new backers will quickly reach those stretch goals. Yesterday was the second best day of funding for the project! The last 24 hours could go even higher.

Additionally, we would encourage that all backers do the following before the KS ends:

  • Check your pledge level, read over the rewards, make sure you are 100% satisfied with your pledge and that you know exactly what is included. You can’t change it after the Kickstarter ends.
  • Make sure your credit info for Amazon hasn’t changed! You have several days to fix issues with it after the KS ends and they should notify you if there are issues, but if it gets cancelled for any reason, there is no way to redo the pledge.
  • This is the last chance to get the base game for $15.
  • This is the last chance to get the Splendid Box ever. We will most likely not have the bullet USB again either.
  • We will never offer the special edition shirt ever again – it’s exclusive to Kickstarter.
  • Backers at the $5000 level will receive an Executive Producer title in the credits.

It’s been a great month so far for Dead State, thanks to you. We appreciate all the support! We’re down to 1 day and three stretch goals. It would be great to add those new team members and last bits of functionality. Let’s make this last 24 hours count - we can do this!

Awsome! Dead Space got THREE 5k contributions at the last minute and managed to finish at 331k! :-o

Not only does that unlock almost all the stretch goals, but it's a amazing ammount of cash for a indie developer!

Too bad the game won't be out till December 2013. :_(

Dead State came in at $332,635 of $150,000). Pulling in all but the final stretch goal. As Soul said though...............not coming out for another year and a half at least (if it is released on time). I am glad it was funded, but the timeline dampens the joy.

Wow, that one was CHEAP compared to some of the ones I've helped fund! Most of the ones I'm waiting on are around 150-300k to do the game.

There's just one Kickstarter left that I'm waiting on to see if it funds or not: Skyjacker, a fun looking space game with a mix of Elite, Wing Commander, and Grand Theft Auto. I'm worried it won't reach it's goal, so please check it out:

Anyone know of any other good RPG/strategy/Sim games that are being funded? I wish I could search on the Kickstarter page but it's not easy.

Apparently since the Skyjacker guys failed to reach their goal they're using the Kickstarter totals to show how much people want their game and going to publishers with it. They've stated they've got meetings with some of them in the near future. Hopefully they can get some backing for one of the digital distribution services. They're accepting money via paypal now for people who essentially wanted to give them money anyway even though the Kickstarter failed. Seems to be a much bigger gamble than Kickstarter already is.

Some of you might have missed it, so I'm just giving this a bump to let everyone know that Chris Crawford has started a thread here on AtariAge to share more details of his Balance of the Planet project. The project is gaining momentum, but it has a long way to go with about twenty days remaining, so please consider contributing anything you can!

Here's a very fun sounding Kickstarter that has allready met it's goal and has 48 hours left:

Sol Force: A Digital Trading Card game. Designed by Richard Gariot, creator of Magic: The Gathering, and some other well known folks.

Worthy successor to the classic space strategy turn games with 3D galaxy map, turn-based 3D space battles and a load of new ideas.

Project Eternity is an isometric, party-based computer RPG set in a new fantasy world developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

Now -- all of these ARE NOT going to be funded. Some want too much money, some just didn't get enough notice. I still liked it enough to pledge it, though, at the least to show my support.

Also notice that some of these are allready at their funded level and didn't want that much money -- so this list is a interesting contrast for Kickstarters.

I'm honestly surprised this topic hasn't had any newer projects added in so long, but I'll bump it because the Life of Pixel Kickstarter has been launched. Life of Pixel is a platformer celebrating 9 classic gaming consoles (worlds are visually/aurally based around the capabilities of the VCS/2600, Sinclair ZX81, ZX Spectrum, C-64, Amstrad CPC464, BBC Model B, Game Boy, NES, and Master System), that launched on the PlayStation Mobile platform in February and garnered a fair amount of positive reviews. I generally skip platformers but really liked this one.

However, it didn't sell well, because just about nothing on PlayStation Mobile sells well due to it not being available in many countries, the low install base of the major PSM-compatible system, the PSV, and insufficient publicity for the platform by Sony. I believe it's actually one of PSM's top sellers, judging from the user ratings count in the PS Store, but the game really deserves to be played by a bigger audience. So, the Kickstarter was established by the developer of the game in order to fund bringing the game to PC, Mac, iOS, and Android, with Ouya, Wii-U, and PS3 being stretch goals (would also fund new console worlds and enemies).

And if you do have a PSV or Xperia or whatever else is PSM-compatible, get it now! . . . So that I can have someone with whom to compare best level times. :)

Well, the Life of Pixel Kickstarter (see it here) ends early Thursday morning US time, and it doesn't look like it will make its goal. I'm not much into Kickstarter in general, so maybe that's why, but I really can't tell why it's gotten so little participation. I played the PS Mobile original and thought it was great, so that's why I backed it. If you're someone who looked at the page and decided not to back it, can you explain what aspects of the Kickstarter turned you off? How is it different from Kickstarters that you did decide to back?

For me personaly? I don't much care for platformers. The games I back are strategy, sim, old school adventure, and RPG.

For those interested in the Oculus Rift and VR: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1944625487/omni-move-naturally-in-your-favorite-game

It's basically a device that allows you to physically run and move in a virtual world (VR Treadmill).

Incredibly excited about this, and considering it was funded in less than a day, I'd say others are too:D

Spiritual sequel to the Neverhood

I mean a claymation point n click by the creator of Earthworm Jim?

Nope. This is one situation where the hatefulness and bigotry of one of the folks involved makes it impossible for me to separate the artist from the art.
