TwentySixHundred #1 Posted May 30, 2012 I have been searching for any related topics but cant find any. My question is why is there Atari games that are exactly the same as Activision? I have noticed many others like CCE also have made clones. For example games like Laser Blaster and Atlantis are made by two or more software companies but all have the same name titles and are identical versions. maiki #2 Posted May 30, 2012 Go to Atarimania web site. There you can easily search for various versions of the same game. Atlantis for sure was produced by Imagic. Activision has nothing to do with it.

Do they share the code or is it stolen and produced on a Activision cart and so forth
Foxsolo2000 #4 Posted May 30, 2012 Activision bought the rights to Imagic games when the company folded
Rom Hunter #5 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) BTW: that Atlantis with the Activision logo on screen was never released during the 1977-1992 period. Edited May 30, 2012 by Rom Hunter
TwentySixHundred #6 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) Activision bought the rights to Imagic games when the company folded Oh well that makes sense, so would be the same for CCE i take it Edited May 30, 2012 by Tony The 2600
TwentySixHundred #7 Posted May 30, 2012 BTW: that Atlantis with the Activision logo on screen was never released during the 1977-1992 period. Foxsolo2000 #9 Posted May 30, 2012 BTW: that Atlantis with the Activision logo on screen was never released during the 1977-1992 period. You sure about that? Sure I had all three with the Activision logo at one point. Need to double check that

Foxsolo2000 #11 Posted May 30, 2012 I am sure I had all three on cart. I need to dig them out
Rom Hunter #12 Posted May 30, 2012 Yes, the three blue labeled carts in the black box: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-atlantis_13457.html http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-demon-attack_13470.html http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-moonsweeper_18069.html But these three didn't carry the Activision logo on screen. sqoon #13 Posted May 30, 2012 Spider Droid by Froggo is another one. It is basically Amidar with some different sprites. I don't know how they got away without being sued by Parker Bros. on that one.
Rom Hunter #14 Posted May 30, 2012 Froggo released their games in 1987. I don't think Parker bothered.
