Activistion and Atari games that look the same

I have been searching for any related topics but cant find any. My question is why is there Atari games that are exactly the same as Activision? I have noticed many others like CCE also have made clones. For example games like Laser Blaster and Atlantis are made by two or more software companies but all have the same name titles and are identical versions.

Go to Atarimania web site. There you can easily search for various versions of the same game. Atlantis for sure was produced by Imagic. Activision has nothing to do with it.

Yeah i know but why is there a Activision version, what im saying is two companies bring out the same game. Do they share the code or is it stolen and produced on a Activision cart and so forth

You sure about that? Sure I had all three with the Activision logo at one point. Need to double check that

100% certain these were not old era.

Yes, the three blue labeled carts in the black box:

But these three didn't carry the Activision logo on screen.

Spider Droid by Froggo is another one. It is basically Amidar with some different sprites. I don't know how they got away without being sued by Parker Bros. on that one.

Froggo released their games in 1987.

 

I don't think Parker bothered.

Ah thats cleared it all up for me, it must be a flashback ROM pack i have. I also got the ROM pack you made on Atarimania about a year ago very nice job and impressive . Thanks for clearing it up, much appreciated
